Seattle and Seattle Suburb real estate: After much planning, Cooper Jacobs Real Estate Services is finally live! If you want to read about my Seattle and Seattle Suburb Real Estate Company, then check out cooperjacobs.com!
Making the decision to open my own brokerage was an easy decision for me - I absolutely loved my broker at Windermere and will miss him dearly, but I wanted to be able to offer my clients more and have the additional freedom to offer a more specialized higher level of service. I have gotten a lot of support and my clients are thrilled! I have run into a couple questions that have baffled me and wanted to share. I guess I should title this something like "Overcoming objections of........" - something - I am sure Griffin Real Estate Jessica would have a clever phrase to throw in there, but here are the "issues":
These are quotes:
1. "Can you show other houses besides your own listings?" Okay, honestly, I have always gotten this question and made a decision years ago to address it directly in my marketing materials. A lot of buyers still think we can only show them listings within our own brokerage. It is important to make this very clear up front. aka.. If you want to see every Seattle house available within your parameters, I have access to all those houses through the NWMLS. I can even help show you Seattle FSBOs, foreclosures, short sales, etc.
2. "How will you market yourself without a big company?" This question came up three times including from my own ex-broker. Honestly, it floors me. A. Because I have NEVER gotten clients simply by belonging to the big local company (although in the early years I am sure their good name helped give me more credibility before clients got to know me or saw my success in this glorious Seattle real estate market). But more importantly, B. Seattle real estate marketing has changed! You know I invited all 42 agents in just my branch office alone to join Active Rain and two took me up on it. Real estate blogging is just one of the ways how I am reaching my customers now - my clients love reading my Seattle and Seattle Suburb blogs - way more than if I sent them a big company branded postcard reminding them to spring forward or fall back... Most of my business has been by referral - clients like working with me and refer me on. I am sure having that big name behind me looks great, but the commodity is ME. I am the one who is going to give you the best real estate experience - and having the freedom to offer more specialized treatment is key!
