I just got an email from an online retailer promoting low prices, and the subject line was "You could be saving money right now."

I thought to myself, I am saving money right now because I am not buying anything at the moment - online or in-person. Therefore, I am saving money right now. Thanks for noticing.

LOL, Steve - so true! I must admit trying to use that similar logic on my hubby..."they were on sale so I bought two - and saved twice as much!" I'll possibly keep 'saving' us into the poorhouse... :-)

I agree...true savings are when I don't buy anything at all. There has been times when I go to retail stores that are having 50% off and I ended up buying stuff that I didn't need in the first place.

Many of us ar price conscious if not price sensitive - many discretionary expenses have been cut back or eliminated. :)

However, if it's paper goods or foods we use all the time, stocking up when they are on sale is a good strategy. :)

That's the psychology behind sales - to get us to buy stuff that we might not normally do. When I can, I stay out of the store altogether, thereby truly saving. :)
