One of our goals at RE/MAX Realty Services is to go above and beyond any ordinary means of staying in touch with our clients and agents. The ordinary means could be a phone call here or there, an email about an open house or even a cupcake on a special birthday. While these are useful tactics we always need to think of other ways to get our brand out there, to connect with people on a level other than via phone or email.
Given the day and age we live in, anything and everything revolves around Social Media. Five years ago we questioned the longevity of sites like Facebook, but now we are watching them set up for an IPO in the billions. That answers our concern right there. If sites like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Linkedin (I could go on forever...) are here to stay, why not make the most of them? These online communities give us access to everyone. They are public sites that allow us as people and businesses to make ourselves accessible to the public.
It isn't just about being 'Friends' with people on Facebook or any of these other sites. It's about engaging with them, keeping them up to date with what you are doing. How lame would these sites be if no one updated them? These tools allow us as professionals to connect with our lives outside of work. If you have a business page set up on Facebook, don't spend all of your time selling and marketing. Let your 'Friends' or 'Likes' know that they are interacting with a real person on the end, not just an agent trying to make a commission.
How are you using Social Media to your advantage? Do you think it is something sustainable? In my opinion, it's not going anywhere...so why not use it as a tool?
