Having more than one Blog

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Properties Seattle

While I do believe you need to write on more than one blog, Step 4 is not about having two or more of your own blogs.  It is about having your own main blog AND being a guest writer for a Group Blog.

Here we have RainCityGuide and The PI Blog, your mileage may vary.  Since it is more difficult to write for clients AND be top in the search engines at the same time, sometimes getting popular via a popular vehicle or search favorable vehicle like Active Rain, and then linking to your main blog is the key to success.

I just noticed that Jeff Turner's Active Rain Blog is popping up high in Google when you looke for a Seattle Real Estate Blog, which I find to be quite odd.  But as I said, figuring out Active Rain is my area of LEAST expertise and you all probably know that better than I.  Will have to figure out how Jeff Turner's "mug" is #3 in Seattle Real Estate Blogs and emulate that :)

I would say DO NOT separate all of your writings into three and four blogs.  I did do that to test out different blog platforms, and found the platform itself to be fairly irrelevant from my perspective.  But clients DO like to hear you talk on other topics, your children, your Mom, etc...So don't be afraid to mix it up on your blog and don't separate subjects.  Many of my blog clients came because of an article on my child coupled with my articles on real estate.  They got a full window to my soul and thinking, so don't feel like your Main Blog has to be ALL ABOUT real estate.

Be approachable in your writings, consumer friendly and answer real live questions from a consumer standpoint and learn to STOP thinking, or at least STOP talking "like an agent".  Agent's are a dime a dozen.  You want to set yourself apart from "the pack".

ARDELL :: I say this all the time, but I'll say it hear again... it's all about relationships. You build relationships by being real. Your voice is the perfect example. It's unique. You're abrupt, straight speaking. You're going to attract a specific kind of person to you and your writing. You're not going to attract everyone, but you don't really want to. You want to work with people who want to work with YOU. Good stuff.

Ardell,

You're correct, Jeff's mug is everywhere, LOL.  What would you or Jeff suggest in an are where blogging has not caught on?

Ray,

If the bulk of your clients do not use the internet to search for homes, then maybe they wouldn't read a blog much either.  That seems to be the key.  My "blogclients" are always avidly searching for homes using the internet.  When I email them, they often respond instantaeously.  Email is their primary form of communication.

Seems anyone who uses email as a primary form of communication is also someone who would read your blog.  I do have some clients who don't use email much and those are the people who also don't read the blog.
