When I filled up the car with gas this morning, regular fuel was perched at $4.21 a gallon. I suspect more folks are currently considering “staycations” rather than vacations, this year.
Fortunately, the Greater Sacramento region has many festivals, events and attractions going on locally to keep us entertained. This weekend will be especially action packed for those who want to get away from home, while almost staying at home. The weather is slated to be in the 80s, so get out there!

Pacifc Rim Fest 2012 – Sunday, May 20th – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Old Sacramento and Westfield Downtown Plaza. This event is always a crowd pleaser for all ages, and is rich in entertainment, arts and crafts vendors. GREAT food. For more information visit the Pacific Rim Street Fest website.
Lodi Zinfest – Friday, Saturday, Sunday – May 18th through 20th @ Lodi Lake Park. This annual event also labeled, The Lodi Grape Festival, enjoys a long history. And, each year the celebration reflects increased sophistication! Occurring at Lodi Lake on Friday and Saturday. Winery Open House will be held on Sunday. Asian Pacific Spring Festival in Locke – Saturday, May 19th – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This one-day event celebrates Asian Pacific Heritage Month. It takes place on Main Street in the historic town of Locke. There will be Asian Pacific performances throughout the day, food and merchandise vendors. The festival is an annual fundraiser for the Locke Foundation, which educates the public about Locke history and legacy. Visit the Locke Foundation website for more information.
Civil War Experience – Saturday and Sunday – May 19th through 20th @ Gibson Ranch Regional Park in Elverta. Northern California’s largest re-enactment of Civil War battles. The theme is “The Road to Antietam.” Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. There will be living history camps, music and dancing. Food! Auburn Spring Home Show – Friday, Saturday, Sunday - May 18th – 20th @ the beautiful Gold Country Fairgrounds. Home and garden improvement ideas. Great food!
