Great Tips for Marketing

Where do you start?

What’s the key to great marketing? How do you pull in new leads, ‘likes’, visitors to your website, and comments on your blogs…? The secret is as simple as good content. Marketing is like writing a novel in my opinion. Novelists try a billion and a half ideas before they settle on a single idea they can write good content on.

You’re first few short stories may not get bought up, but maybe your first novel based on a story that was successful will work. Similarly, in marketing you must try and try again all kinds of methods and avenues to get more business. Once you figure out what works for your business and what generates the most business, you can then weed out the methods that are not so successful. However, everyone must have a starting point when it comes to posting and blog writing.

For me personally, and I’m sure a good percentage of you out there, beginning on a blank sheet trying to create an ad, a blog or an article is the most difficult. Once I’ve decided what to write about and have put pen to paper, so to speak, ideas flow much more easily. Below there is a list I have compiled of good places to start for agents and brokers who want to get their marketing fully up and running. Some of these were taken from the Niche Reportand others came from me. Hope this helps!

Good Post Ideas:

The Top Ten: This is one of my favorites not just for daily posts but also for marketing videos. All of us that get calls in with questions from potential clients usually get the same set of ten questions. So write a blog answering each one. This is a great way to screen your calls before they come in and give the reader a good idea of how you conduct business.

Tips: Whether you lend to or sell real estate, everyone could use some tips from you! After all, you have experience and gone through trial & error. So make a list of first time home buyer tips, tips for appraisals, tips for applying for loans, tips for just about anything. This is also a great way of generating leads because you’re not only attempting to get more business, but you’re alsoproviding information without being too biased toward your business. Sometimes articles advertise too much and the potential customer/client feels over-spammed or specifically targeted. The above is a great way to help mix it up.

Trends: Know your industry! It’s not only good to be fully aware of everything happening in your industry but be able to discuss it in understandable terms. The more you know about and write about noticeable trends within the industry, the more of an authority on the subject you will be. Write about unemployment rates and how it affects the economy or the housing market, write about current rates or local trends. This is the best way to ‘show what you know’ and prove that you’re keeping up with the times.

Home Tips: If you’re in Real Estate specifically, don’t feel like you have to stick to just home buying or selling tips. Expand to home maintenance, remodeling, great garden tips, how to raise the value of your home, landscaping, etc. There is so much to owning a home and maintaining it, so write about it!

Recommend Resources and Methods: Just like I am doing here with tips on marketing and how to approach generating leads, so should you. Recommend sources for tips, sources for news, what you do to create databases or generate leads.

Off Topic: This last is one that I use fairly few and far between. I like to keep the majority of my posts related to the housing market or financing. However, sometimes it’s nice to have a small blurb about a community event or a relevant quote or even someone else’s video. I like to post another professional’s videos sometimes on Facebook and then tag them in it so they are notified that their name is shown on my page. This is a great way to let colleagues know that you’re there to help them as well as yourself.

I hope these little tips on posting and marketing was helpful for you. Just keep in mind that marketing takes time. You have to try things from all angles and in all marketing avenues until you find the ones that consistently generates leads. Good luck!
