We were delighted to see this fabulous tiered entry to an appartment building located accross from the Santa Barbara Public Library.  The most unusual cactus looking struckture were planted with succulents, see close up below.  The building owners were very astute in creating a great curb appeal for renting these apartments.

Notice how, they have added a structure to this cactus looking planter to support the succulents as they grow tall and to aid them in draping over the planter.  This is a treat for all onlookers.

Have a great weekend, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

A very interesting design that adds conceptual appeal to the whole. Great picture, Alexandra. Reminds me of a Santa Barbara palace.

This is quite unique, and a great way to highlight a sculpture.  Very attractive.  Have a great weekend!

Jon,

It definitely had the feel of a Mediterranean terraced garden, which we have seen in Europe.  The cacti sculptures as planters are purely California.  It made it so unique and so lovely to look at.  I saw one fo the tenants reading a book outside, and it was so clear she was enjoying her surroundings.

William,

Thanks for your comment...I can't wait to redo some landscaping in our next home, and find planters like those...

Larry and Sheila,

I think each place is unique in its own right, and the people who love their area keep seeing it that way.

Toni,

Yes, it does look palatial, but whoever designed both the building and the grounds really loved aethetics and they communicated it beautifully.

Sharon,

True it is quintessential Southern/Central California.

Rebecca,

I am delighted you do.

Suzanne,

Yes indeed it highlights the whole street.

Wishing you all a delightful and happy weekend, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra
