19 Comments on Gardening on the May Long Weekend
Enjoy your long weekend #50 and your gardening. Nice variety of plants too. Glad the weather is beautiful for you.
Valerie-I remember all too well living in Northern NY about a half hour from the Canadian border that sometimes we would get that frost Memorial weekend which is the last weekend in May. Glad to know the weather is warm enough to plant those beautiful flowers.
It is a very cool 54 degrees in Colorado today, so we're still tempting fate here. Drives me nuts! Have fun getting dirty:)
Valerie- enjoy your weekend! Those colorful flowers are enough to brighten anyone's day.
Hello Valerie,
Wishing you glorious weather to enjoy your gardening!
Valerie, your post makes me smile, I am already on the 2nd round of planting for this year, my delicate spring blossoms have died under the hot May sun - I needed the sturdier plants that take the heat better for the summer. Sounds like buse planting season is here all over the nation though, not only in Ottawa-Ontario-Canada!
Love the idea of digging in and getting the hands dirty when the weather is beautiful-next week is Memorial Day and I hope to be doing the same! Happy long weekend.
Valerie, the nurseries around here are packed this weekend! It's been such an odd spring this year.
We've had typical Spring weather here in Colorado. Cold, rainy and damp one day. Bright, sunny and warm the next. Today was the foul weather day. Spoiled our outdoor plans. Supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow, so we might venture out. I would like to go to the Farmer's Market.
Valerie, lovely photo...are those the flowers your going to plant? We need to plant ours soon...Joe got the garden started but not the decarative flowers planted. Our weather is ready for it too.
Good morning Valerie. I like your plants, bench and the weekend. In Dubrovnik it was almost 80 yesterday and lovely. I hope my garden survived while I've been on holiday. Enjoy your weekend and the plants.
Roger: Thanks. Today is going to be VERY hot. I like the 70 - 75 range but this is still better than a blizzard!!!
Sharon: It is just one of those things. Mother Nature tricks us into believing we can plant and then whoosh frost. Do you miss the cooler weather?
Kim: Okay. Now you are making me happy with our weather. Hope today is better.
Kathy: I walked by this house (on my block) and thought it would make a good long weekend photo. So happy to be able to use it!
Lisa: Thank you.
Tanja: So many of us have second plantings - sometimes frost (here) sometimes heat (you).
Joanna: I hope you have terrific weather next weekend.
Rob: So many of us have a little pile of sheets to cover plants in the spring.
Janice: Did you notice that the photo includes President's Choice plants?
Donna: Just remember that you are going to feel so good when the hot hot weather hits the Gulf and no one can move from the heat!!!
Ellen: This is a photo of flats of plants at a home up the block from me. Nice to have those plants so ready to go in the dirt. I just have no time for starting things from seeds.
Sheila: This miracle is how resilient gardens are. I am sure you will have time to garden all summer after your tour. I am still thinking of your little sandwich packed for the bus tour of the day.
William: It is like changing the batteries in your smoke detectors on a specific day in the fall.
Thanks for the reminder. I need to buy some flowering plants this year.
Gita: Have you been hit by all the hail and winds? If you put of planting, you may have been lucky/
