18 Comments on Speechless Sundays - "As High As An Elephant's Eye"
Steve How did you take the measurement? I didnt know you had corn and elephants in the same place in Florida :)
Karen,
Actually we kind of do, but that is a line from "Oklahoma." :)
Steve
Hi Steve, the corn will be ready soon. We have elephants everywhere here in Florida.
Irene,
That and several out at Lion Contry Safari. :)
Steve
I am only 5 feet tall so I would disappear in there for sure. Happy Sunday Steve.
Patty,
I'm not much taller, and it's over my head too. :)
Steve
Steve, That is some tall corn! Someone is in for a fresh treat! Have a great night!
Tony and Darcy,
That is some very tall corn. Enjoy your week. :)
STeve
Steve, you answered my question as to where that came from in your comment up top. How much fun it is to use colloquialisms...(I better go check the spelling), but you know what I mean. Like, "dead as a doornail"...that one always intriqued me, and I even found it in a Dickens novel! (I would love to write a silly little book about local sayings and how they were derived).
(P.S. I got that word correct!)
Very interesting photo, Steve!
Have a great week!
Gayle,
I agree. How much more colorful than saying "Tall Corn." :)
Steve
DeeDee,
Thank you. :)
Steve
Thanks for sharing your photograph. We are having a rainy day in Maryland and the plants will be rapidly growing.
Have an outstanding week with your camera in hand.
Steve I know it's a line in "Oklahoma", but I've never understood how they made the measurement. I spent four years in college in Chickasha, OK - I never saw elephants in their cornfields, either :)
Steve, I love elephants so can grasp what you're saying. I remember riding one and thinking I was as tall as the sky...
Roy,
We've had more rain than sun the past severl days. :)
Steve
Karen,
Then I guess we'll just have to accept the simile as approximate. :)
Steve
Wanda,
I rode one once - nice but not what I expected. :)
