Hernando Beach residents celebrated the completion of the Hernando Beach channel dredge today with a ribbon cutting at the local public boat ramp. With the Tarpon Canal as the backdrop, Hernando Beach Coast Guard Auxiliary, Hernando County Port Authority, County Commissioners, and County employees involved with the project joined into the festivities.
Many Hernando Beach businesses participated in the celebration and Hernando Beach restaurants provided the food for the crowd that gathered after the ribbon cutting for a neighborly get-together. Restaurants that participated were R-Beach, Leslie's Bistro, and Swanies Restaurant. The Hernando Beach Property Association provided drinks, hot dogs, and cake.
Numerous Hernando Beach community organizations also participated in the event providing information to the public about various programs and services. Representatives from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Hernando Beach Crime Watch, Fly Fishing Club, Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department, and of course the US Coast Guard Auxiliary were all there to answer questions.
The Hernando Beach channel dredge celebration was well attended and is just another example of the people this waterfront community coming together to have a great time and make their neighborhoods a great place to live!
