According to the Kesley group, between 60-70% of internet searches are local.  The majority of Google searches are local.  Advertise your business locally and you will get traffic and customers for a fraction of the cost when compared to other media.   Most of the time, this will reach more people than Yellow Pages ads, it's more traceable than billboards, and costs way less than direct mail and fliers.

I am with you brother! Since I can only handle my local volumes I need to only market locally, if I ever grow into a mega company I will need to reconsider.

Good call Chadd. I was advertising in the State paper recently and was getting nothing out of it. All the agents in my office I talked to said it would be better to advertise in newspapers that are circulated just here in Columbia and the surrounding areas. So, now I will give this a try and see how it goes.

And, in this field, best thing I have found for SEO is right here --- Active Rain. And it is free, but takes lots of time and dedication to get the benefits.

This could vary if you are in a market with alot of relocation.   My traffic averages the same but you can't count out the other percentage

Yes, but I make a lot of sales from my web placement in Europe and overseas!  A lot of the time in real estate we limit ourselves from priceless opportunities!  My biggest deals are not local!
