Working with your spouse makes many things easier and some things harder.  You guys seem tohave it figured out.

Scott -  Yes, we are very aware of that point because we know that each day brings with it new challenges and we work at it so it always stays in perspective.

This is something I have thought about before. I think there is an automatic credibility that couples who work together have. It is an unspoken indication of trust between the two people who would know best if the trust was misplaced.

Mark - Thanks for taking time to give our Blog a Read.  We think you are correct about the fact that people do seem to like working with Husband and Wife Teams.  People tend to respond well to having two viewpoints too.  It seems to add credibility.  Sometimes we finish each other's sentences and people seem to get a real charge out of that!

I enjoyed your post. I absolutely agree about the teamwork - just like in a marriage: one's strengths complements the other's weaknesses. I'm not sure if it may happen to me, but it sure would be very interesting.

We "are" human and have moments when we drive each other alittle crazy but we value and appreciate each other so much that we know how to let it go.  I should have put that into the post as well so people don't get the wrong impression and think we are without any fault at all.  Thanks for reading our post and commenting.

Lisa, I just also wanted to add:

After 6 years of marriage (and knowing him for over 10), we both learn to pick our battles. There are something we dont compromise, there are something if it would make our lives less crazy, we'd do it even if we each have our own opinion.

I realize this only after we aligned our priorites. Life became more simple. I think this can be applied to the real estate business as well.

Jay and I have it down to a science...we play off each other and somehow just know what the other is going to say or do.  We work together, live together but we each have our "me" time..he's a golfer and I'm not so that is his escape...my escape lol..when he golfs!

It's definitely necessary to have "ME" time.  I love to Garden and Bob loves to tinker in his Studio.

I can't count the number of times we've been asked how we can work and live together.  Even before we came into real estate we worked together.  We have a great relationship, and we balance each other out with our different views and abilities.  It's not for everyone, and I know a few couples that it really isn't for, but if you can do it, and enjoy it, then it's well worth it.  Great post!

Thank you Jim and Maria.  Bob and I just plain and simply like each other and enjoy each other's company so much that we just "Get it".  Being a husband and wife team yourselves, I'm sure I don't have to explain what I mean by that.  We love and respect each other and keep that at the core of our business model!

This was a great post on working together as a husband and wife team. I only joined in Dec so I was still trying to figure it all out.

I have to say that now that my wife and I are working together on her office closing my files, that we have had to set some boundaries. She works for a law firm that does Real Estate closings, and I must say that it can take over your conversations if you are not careful. Also, since our emails on shared files are now basically public record, I find myself not ending the email with Lov  or yur hubby or stuff like that!

But all in all, I love working together with my Wife. We have been best friends for over 20 years, and have similar work ethics, so it is super to do this. Thanks for all the insight, I will send her this post to look over, will this count as business talk or personal "Us" time??/Hmmmmm.....Mike Norvell Sr

That's an interesting combo.  Our daughter is a paralegal for a real estate Attorney so we understand that there can be things that you must be careful about.  However, sticking to the golden rule as well as your code of ethics should keep you from making any problems for yourselves.

As far as everything else goes, always make your relationship on a personal level a priority.  When you are ethical people all the other peices fall into the right places.  Best of luck to you both!  Thanks for stopping by another of our posts!

Thanks for visiting our post.  Not sure if we can offer any advice other than to support each other in every way and keep a sense of humor because you can't take things too seriously.  The most important relationship is the one you have with each other.  If you can afford to carry two commission based incomes than go ahead and give it a whirl.  There is no set time frame because different markets will undoubtedly produce different results.  If you have a nitch you can hang your hats on that would help greatly.  Good luck to you both and feel free to e-mail us or call us with any questions you may have.
