MUSIC ON MONDAYS - 1981 STONES CLASSIC
Last Saturday night, I was fortunate to catch the season finale of "SNL" when, for the very first time, Mick Jagger acted as host. I thought he did a great job with the various sketches he participated in. Also a huge surprise was Kristen Wiig's farewell number after seven years on the show. I was caught off guard as NBC made no prior announcement of her departure and it wasn't until the final scene where Mick Jagger plays a principal at a high school graduation who singles out "one student who is leaving this summer" for a dance, that I realized it was for real.
I absolutely adore her and I'm really sorry to see her go. She is so incredibly talented. There doesn't seem to be any character that she can't play. But she's been very busy with her movies; most recently, Bridesmaids and has many more in various stages of development.
In any case, on this dreary, dark and rainy Monday night, I'm feeling like the perfect music could only come from The Rolling Stones. They defined my generation and their less well-known number Waiting on a Friend has always been a personal favorite.
