Yes, Historic Home fans will love all the over 100 period rooms incorporated into Winterthur Museum and love seeing its gardens outside of Wilmington, Delaware,  but on Sunday, I saw the peony collection as it was in full bloom. With the quirky weather, you never know when the perfect day will be, but the end of May was ideal for me. Enjoy some of the pictures from this fantastic garden begun early in the 20th Century by Henry Francis duPont.

This is a MUST SEE if you are in the DE/Southern Chester Co. area of PA . This located only about 10 minutes from Longwood Gardens, but is a complete tour unto itself !!!

Thanks, Michael.  While Longwood Gardens is more formal, for the most part, Winterthur is more wooded and naturalistic.

Hi Carolyn, I love these photos and the Wintherthur property is just wonderful. I last visited a couple ago while spending two days at Longwood Gardens.

William--It really is amazing to have both Longwood and Winterthur so close together.  But then they were both duPont properties, and when he came from France in 1800, E.I. duPont described himself as a "botaniste." The tradition continues!
