Bad Experience with Temecula Roofing Company

This winter has been a doozy so far as far as California standards go.  Last night I went to a late movie and came out to torrential downpours and had to cross a lake also known as the parking lot.  Needless to say, my shoes and pants were drenched!!  Yikes!!

Unfortunately my father has been experiencing some negative side effects of all the rain at his house through a strange leak that just recently started.  Dripping no where else but through the kitchen pantry cabinets on the first floor of two floors created an enigma for us roofing novices.  How could it get to the middle of the house without showing any signs of a leak in the second floor above the pantry where the water was coming out?  Strange.

What to do?  Start calling the roofers one finds in local yellow pages advertising and possibly Penny Saver ads?  After calling several companies, leaving messages, and getting no response, my father got in touch with Temecula Roofing Co.  The company is obviously locally based and answered the phone when he called.  Both very good signs, right?  The receptionist/wife of the roofer offered to have the roofing technician/her husband out the next day.  Perfect.  Rain was forcasted in a few days and if he could come out and find the problem, they might be able to fix the problem before the next rain.

The roof technician came over the next day sometime close to the end of the time range he was supposed to arrive.  He took a look around and came to the conclusion that he needed a taller ladder to get to the roof.  Interesting.  Would you think that someone who works for Temecula Roofing Co. would have a ladder on hand that was tall enough to reach the top of a typical two story home in Temecula?  The technician told my father he would be back that afternoon.

The afternoon came an went.  There were no phone calls from Temecula Roofing Co.  It was Friday so my father had to wait until Monday to call to see what happened.  No answer from Temecula Roofing Co.  He left a message.  Guess what?  They never bothered to call him back.  EVER!  Is that crazy?  The company obviously had the order.  Had the address.  But just dropped the ball right in the middle of a service deal.

Fortunately my father was able to get someone else out to give an estimate.  I believe the job is about $1600.  I wondered initially if Temecula Roofing Co. didn't return the calls because the job was too small and possibly "not worth their time"? I'm no roofer, but a $1600, local job seems like a decent job to me.

If you are looking for a roofer, I would not recommend Temecula Roofing Co. and I would certainly make sure that if you do find yourself working with them, not to pay them before the job is finished.  If they would flake out on this job, what would they do in other situations?

Thanks for the info.  My in-laws live in Murrieta and I will tell them to stay away from Temecula Roofing Co. if they need any work done on their roof.

Funny thing, I spoke with another Realtor in my office who had a similar experience. He said he actually got a quote from Temecula Roofing Company which was considerably lower than a few other bids, but then they never returned his phone calls.  Every time he called his contact was " on a conference call" !!  (A roofer who is on a conference call?  For what? An instructional phone seminar?  Motivational coaching???!!) Anyway, after calling back for about a week and also asking to speak with the owner, this agent finally gave up.

I hope the word gets out there that this company is full of flakes.  Just because they look professional, doesn't mean they work that way!!

Ms. Manning,

I am sorry you had a negative experience with My Company.  As your blog states, "THIS WINTER WAS A DOOZY!".  I agree 100%!! We are a small local company, and when it rains we do all that is possible to help the 100's of call that come in for help.  Unfortunately, we are only human and between Myself and Lee we cannot service them all.

Furthermore this has been a rough time with my Mother recently being diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and consequently losing her March 31.  It was a four Month battle and your Father was unfortunately caught up in the mix.

We are not "Full of Flakes" and would never wrong our customers, we have maintained a good reputation for almost 30 years and I do not wish to have this incident, with you and your Father, throw away all that my Father and I have worked for.

Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you or any of your associates may have...

Here is my direct cel #: 909-821-4774

Again I wish to extend my sincere apologies for this unfortunate timing.

Sincerely,

Will Picquelle, President/Owner

Temecula Roofing Co.

Mr. Picquelle: First of all, thank you for your apology.  And secondly, I am very sorry for your loss.  I empathize with the entire situation as I also lost my mother to a battle with cancer.  I understand it can be very stressful.  I also understand that people are human, make mistakes, and sometimes make committments they cannot keep.

With that said, I don't understand why you were not truthful and have the integrity to call my father back and say there was a family emergency with possibly a referral of a colleague you may have trusted?  And in the case of my associate at work, you obviously were lying about the conference calls.  Trust is earned in any business and unfortunately contractors have a stereotype to overcome with the general public as being unreliable and flaky.  Honesty would have been refreshing and respectable.  It doesn't take any time at all to pick up the phone and say that you are not able to do the work for whatever reason.  People make mistakes.  I understand.  I just feel that you could have been forthright with your actions, and saved a lot of grief on this end.  Flaky behavior was my interpretation of what happened since there was no other communication to that end until now.

I respect your right to your opinion and wish you the best moving forward with your business.

Ms. Manning,

Obviously this is none of your business but you insist on jabbing me and calling me a liar without ever meeting me.  If you consider conference calls with my 7 siblings, surgeons, hospice and the cancer treatment facility a lie, then I am guilty of lying.  It is my peroggative who I wish to know about my personal life, sometimes you just need to respect someone's privacy and give them a little consideration.

Generalizations are rampant and it is blogs like these coming from people like you who do not do the proper research or follow up, just throwing opinions out there to attempt damage people.

This pains me to argue about this and I do not wish to discuss this any more.

Sincerely,

Will Picquelle

Mr. Will Picquelle

I've been trying to get a written estimate since the end of April '08 from Temecula Roofing; as of Today still nothing???

I was trying to keep the busy local here in Temecula but when nobody answers e-mails or calls me back it makes it kind of hard to support Temecula owned businesses.

*Maybe my job of replacing skylights in my home was to small of a job? Yes, I could be wrong but I'm only left with assumptions because I haven't got a response.

At the least, a courtesy call would be nice. Don't you think?

Dear Lisa/Temecula Resident:

Looks like it may be better to work with another contractor.  There are lots of people who are very happy for the work in the down construction and real estate market.  Best of luck to you.  SM

Mrs. Ybarra,

We are aware of your claim.  You requested us to come out through the city, Deanna Crisp said they do not replace skylights and denied your claim.  Debra (our office manager) had Contacted you and/or left a message to see if you were going to pay yourself or work it out through the city assistance program.  It's not that your job is too small...it is a matter of who will pay for it.  We are still waiting for your response and are more than willing to assist you.

I do not wish to have this blog attempt to ruin a valuable reputation that we have nutured over the years.

If you are still interested, please call me direct at 909-821-4774 (My Cel) and I will personally come out again.

Regards,

Will Picquelle, President
