My daughter has been riding at Stony Glen Stables for the past 4 years. She has loved being a part of the Stony Glen family. Even though the riders compete against each other in some events, they are ALWAYS cheering and truly wishing the best for each other.
I've written about this barn before. Be sure to check out my post and the YouTube video to see the type of fun they had during Spring Break, including some swimming horses.
Last year my daughter was chasing points in her division (Dallas Hunter Jumper Scholarship Circuit) and ended up in third place in one division and FIRST place in another division. She was super excited because she worked so hard and had great guidance from her trainer (and owner of Stony Glen Stables) Julie Holmquest. We enjoy working with Julie because she puts a lot of enegy and focus on the riders to ensure they get better with each ride/show.
This year we took a little break from horse shows. My daughter will still compete, just not as much as she did last year. As you can imagine, horse shows can be quite time consuming although if you asked my daughter she would do all of the shows available.
Two weekends ago, she competed in her first show and received a few first place ribbons and a few shy of first place. Overall, she received 'Reserve Champion' which means she came in second place in the entire competition (within her division) when combining all points from the 4 or 5 rounds. The Champion was the daughter of a friend I met on facebook (small world).
Since my daughter hadn't competed since November of 2011, she was SUPER excited at her ribbons for the day....
Congratulations Sidney on such a great show!
