voteWith the Iowa caucaus behind us and NH and others on the calendar for the next few weeks (months, or what seems like years) it is time to get serious about who will be our next President...and to start researching who you will vote for!  Some say our vote does not count...and the way the system is set up that may or may not be the case.  BUT we as a whole MUST let our leaders know how we feel by voting.  Voting is a privilege, and it's our right!

This Caucasus/Primary stuff is still way over my head and it won't be for long as in 2 weeks from today I am going to Nevada's Caucus just to familiarize myself with the concept of it.  Then I'll report back and if anyone is as silly/dumb as me about this I will report in with them and give them the scoop on the differences.

Nevada's caucus is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 10:30 am for Republicans and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the democrats.  I want to go to both but I guess I can't.  It's on a Saturday morning (19th of February) at the University Of Las Vegas Thomas and Mack Center.

It all sounds like an interesting topic...and I'm one who wants to learn!  Maybe it's ran a way that I've just been used to and now is named something different.  Whatever happens I'll come away a little smarter...and I like that!

Participation is the key at all levels of the process.

I will look forward to hearing about what you experience, Mary

Amazingly, there is a large percentage of voters that are still undecided.  Lots of exciting things can happen as these contests unfold over the next few weeks.  As the saying goes, this isn't just news - this is history.

I do not usually post about politics but I can say this. I got a kick out of the N.H. debate last night. It was good Theater!!!

Mary, I did one of those online tests that's been going around - you answer a bunch of questions and it tells you which candidate is most closely aligned with your views.  My result was a tie between Dennis Kusinitch (sorry about the spelling, Dennis) and Ron Paul!  Go figure!

Mary, maybe you be able to figure out this caucus stuff and share with the rest of us.

Polically Active are we? Well good for you and me too. Every so often I change my vote to "none of the above" but I like you and many very concerned Americans, I am keeping an eye on it all. - Lance

I spent the holidays in Iowa where the phone in my daughter's house was quiet from political calls ONLY on Christmas Day, and even that day Mike Huckabee rain commercials. Life is going to be like that for all of us in the coming months (political calls are exempted from Do Not Call rules ~ surprise, surprise).

Seriously, I think politics are very important and I'm serving as my County volunteer coodinator through November -- get out the vote. The future of our children is at stake.

Congratulations on getting involved, Mary.

Mary,

Two down, forty-eight to go.  New Hampshire is in the books.  It's developing into an interesting election year, now that the primaries have begun.  McCain doesn't have as much appeal here in his home state as he does elsewhere.  It's the old saw about a prophet...

Mary, I'm in a hotel room in New York watching the New Hampshire primary coverage.  Voting is so important, and it's something I always do - primaries, local elections. whatever.  I feel like if you don't vote, you lose all bitch privileges about what our leaders do.

Hi Mary: After watching how all of this is done, I would prefer that everyone just vote in private. I cannot imagine standing/sitting in a room with lots of other people and raising my hand......helllllloooo, my vote is personal. I want it to stay that way. We've been watching all of the debates, most of the discussions afterwards, and listening very carefully to each candidate.
