Safety tip - use your car alarm

car keys

I got an email with this great safety tip.  This really is a good idea!

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car, set the alarm off, and the horn will ontinue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it from different areas of your house.  It should work if you park in your driveway or garage.  If your car alarm sounds when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are they won't stick around.

Also remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there if you're approached by someone up to no good .... it will draw attention.  This would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. Seniors can carry the keys with them in case of a fall outside, and nobody is around. They can activate the car alarm and notify someone inside that there's a problem.

This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime. search for maui listings at eastmaui.com

Thanks for stopping by.  Aloha from Maui.

This is really a great tip. You can also get a small key remote with most home alarm systems now, I have mine beside my bed at night. I will also have my car keys!
