I had a call today about a listing that is showing on my point2 site.  On my website it shows the property with 16 acres of land!  The lot is only .5 acres.  I don't know where this information is pulled from.  The MLS and Realtor.com show it correctly.  It is not my listing, but one that is pulled by Point2.  How do I find out where the information was incorrectly added and how can I get it corrected?

It doesn't look good having to explain to a possible customer that the information on my site is wrong.  Thanks for your help!

Hi Calvin,

If it is under the Point2 NLS System (shared listings) then it was the Realtor (or his assistant) who entered it into Point2 that did it incorrectly.

The only way to alter this is to contact the other Realtor yourself and let him know you found the mistake.

As you enter in listings in Point2, you are the only one who can alter them.  Hopefully you can give this other Realtor a call and rectify this situation - I'll bet he would be glad you did!

Calvin,  That is something you have to watch with your handshake listings.  If it does not get corrected do not be afraid to block that agent.  It is not worth explaining errors to prospective clients.

Thanks Scott.  I emailed the broker the other day and spoke to the agent today.  He was not aware of the error, but promised to correct it.  I will follow up later this week to make sure it is cleared.

Calvin,

This is a great point and one I have come across myself.  The biggest issue is that there really is no goverance of information posted on these listings.  Although handshaking is an attractive way to build a great shopping environment for buyers, this is a huge drawback when we are finding multiple sets of information for the same property and the information is not correct.  Brokers are often not aware or even excersizing any control over these individual sites.

Obviously, the presentation is often much more attractive than MLS's are providing and that is an attractive feature.  We are currently looking at other options ourselves right now.

Calvin... Sounds like you are off to a great start getting this issue resolved... If you run into repeated issues with someones listings... you can block their listings from your site. Just a worst case option.

I agree contact the Realtor and let them know that there is an error with their listing.

That is something I never heard of yet but you can block certain members from your site if needed. That might be an option if the realtor doesn't make the change
