As a Realtor are youprepared for a day on the go? You are all used to taking care of your clients but do you forget about you? ; a simple phone call or email can change our whole day and send us rushing down a route we never imagined when we got up out of bed in the morning.

Technology

I’m sure you never leave the house without checking that you have fully armed yourselves for whatever might come your way, cell phone, iPad, laptop, car keys, contracts, the list can go on and on, and all of these things could severely affect your day should you not give them some forethought.

Do you however, consider that at some point you need fuel to keep you going? Without food for an extended period your body will start to protect its self from starvation, yes starvation. ( I hear you laugh and explore those excess pounds)

When you feel hungry this is a warning, ignore that and you will become tired, irritable and unable to concentrate or focus on the task in hand, how would that look to a client, you turn up yawning to an appointment and the sofa looks very attractive.Tired

Not a problem I hear you say, grab something from the nearest fast food restaurant or a candy bar from the gas station, not a good idea, candy will give you a quick rush of energy and leave you wanting more or you will be back in sleep mode,  fast food will give you nothing but indigestion and then you will still want to sleep, does this sound familiar?

So when you prepare for a day taking care of your clients don’t forget about you, give yourself a little thought before you rush out of the door with your ipad in hand, carry a few snacks in the car that will carry you through a busy day and make you feel better not worse, chances are Mr. Client is more likely to do business with a bright eyed and bushy tailed Real Estate Agent.

Oh Heather these are such smart words. Driving home yesterday after a fast moving busy day, I could feel myself phasing out and felt like I was in a drunken fog!!!! Then it hit me, when was the last time I drank any water!!! This is such an important blog for realtors. Yes, I had my cell phone, ipad and files.

That is a great tip and not something you think of too much. I always try to keep water with me. So much fresher than soft drinks.

Heather, I've been trying to make sure there's plenty of fresh fruits and vegetalbes around to snack on lately. Better than the candy bar you mentioned.

Wow, I should have read this yesterday.  7 pm last night, phone ran out of battery just as I finished lunch.  I think me and the phone were out of power.

That can be one of the trickiest things for us as things get busy. I have plenty of healthy snacks at the office, but need to stock up with some in my car as well....otherwise I find myself heading for the nearest coffee shop for a caffeine pick-me-up!

Hi Heather, yep we're all working in overdrive most of the time, taking a break to re-fuel is awesome advise.

There was a time in the late 1980s, when I was so busy selling real estate, that I literally looked at the calendar and realized I had worked 4 months without a day off.  Those were long days too!  Finally I put a day on the calendar for a complete day off.  I needed to regroup, rest up, and get into a better mood.  When the alloted day arrived, I woke up in a good mood, with lots of energy. . .BOY was I upset:-)  Seriously however, it is important to take care of yourself.  I developed some health issues back then (stress related), that took me awhile to get back under control!

Well I'm not an agent but I am a bushy-tailed writer! HA. We have to take time some where. I let myself go crazy on Groupon spa services.. that's my ME time. :)

And, when you live in the desert, it's even more planning.  My plan includes a cooler, bag of granola bars for something more filling than crackers, and sometimes Subway sandwiches!  Gotta feed the machine!

I always try to eat healthy.  It works MOST of the time, but once in a while I have to eat what's convenient.

You are so right. There are times when lunch is not an option. Our little gas station has bananas and oranges at the counter. It works for me! ♥

You are so right -- and other things are being sure to have plenty of water to drink (we are in Arizona and its 110 degrees), and be sure that the food you do carry around is safe in the heat.

This has happened to me several times before. I try to have my water and trail mix in the car just for these times.

Good reminder Heather. And the same goes for keeping up our health and regular doctor appointments.
