Happy World Turtle Day!

According to Ecology Global Network  May 23rd is World Turtle Day!  The American Tortoise Rescue started World Turtle Day in an effort to raise awareness about turtles around the world. Turtles are important to our environment, they have been on the earth for 200 million years in oceans, ponds and on land on every continent except Antarctica.

Happy World Turtle Day!

Turtles are very interesting to learn about, for example, did you know some female turtles produce eggs four years after mating? Did you know turtles range in size from 4” to 10’? Did you know many turtles are expert climbers? Check out Turtle Facts for more interesting info about Turtles today & raise your awareness.

Happy World Turtle Day!

Diane - It made me sad lately when someone sent me photos showing the reason why sea turtles are dying out in some areas... dozens and dozens of humans digging up the eggs and carting them away to be sold.

I need to follow your link and see what I can learn. For instance, I wonder where our turtles go in winter? The ponds they inhabit here in N. Idaho freeze over, so...?

Interesting info, Diane.  I was a big turtle fan when I was a kid.  I had a bunch of them as pets, and to this day I am entertained when I see one lumbering along the road.  I normally stop and help them across the street.

What a cool day and I'm sorry I missed it.  Last year we had a resident turtle in our mulch bed.  Sad that she is not back this year.
