Shelton CT “Get Your Walk On” Walkathon and Soupstock June 9, 2012
Two Shelton, CT downtown festivals, “Get Your Walk On” and Soupstock return on Saturday, June 9 from 10 – 8 p.m.
The Boys and Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley is coordinating the benefit walkathon, "Get Your Walk On" which supports programs at the Shelton and Ansonia clubs where more than 2,000 kids from the area take part in its cultural, physical, recreational, and social programs.
For a minimum $25 pledge walkers will receive a commemorative t-shirt, Outback Steakhouse lunch and discounted admission to the parallel event "Soupstock", an all day soup tasting competition.
Additionally, there will be an antique and custom auto show, a craft fair, and music by live local and national bands There will also be a variety of craft, food and gift vendors from the local area and beyond and a student art competition exhibit.
The net proceeds from Soupstock will benefit the Mary Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund which furthers the cause of creative education and career guidance for children and young adults in southern CT.
