Well just before Christmas I was MEME'd...then again by Simon Conway...

So, I'll continue my last MEME here...

I worked in Nuclear Medicine my entire life until over a year ago when I decided to follow my dream of 20 year's to break away and sell Real Estate.

I worked my way up from a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, to an Assistant Chief Technologist, to a Chief Technologist, to a Radiology Manager and then onto a Director for a company for the the state of Florida.

I taught Nuclear Medicine to many students. I did major Research as well, for Yale University and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I was instrumental in some Cardiac Imaging (Yale) research (helping Cardiologists determine the time between a heart attact and necessary new treatment), and developed protocols for cancer treatments for the National Institutes of Health (lymph node cancer). After that I also wrote protocols for Lymphoscintigraphy with the Neoprobe company to help women with breast cancer and people affected with Lymphatic issues...including melanoma.

I helped many medical facilities to pass their state inspections, I controlled some facilities state licenses.

I loved what I did...until I found my on Renal (kidney) Cancer in 2001.  After a complete Nephrectomy (kidney with tumor removal - Stage 1 [thank you G*d]) I worked 4 more year's in my Nuclear Medicine field.

Then, after hearing of so many other of my peer's enduring the same type of cancer, in 2005, I studied and received my Real Estate license. I studied hard, passed my Fl exam the first time and never looked back.  I started to sell Real Estate full time in November 2006. Not the best time, but I have made the best of it.  I still do consulting in the Nuclear Medicine arena.

I had great training. I now work for EXIT Realty Properties in Coral Springs, Florida, and work out of John Milakovic's office in Coral Springs, Florida. My main focus is Fort Lauderdale, however, I have listed and sold properties in Miami as well as Boca Raton. I love what I do and I will continue listing and selling Real Estate.  It has always been my passion and I will succeed...I will never give up...I am so happy...I love to work with people!

Thanks Simon...here you go!

Had to add the humor...I guess you could say...I "GLOW IN THE DARK!"  LOLOL

Karen, thanks for sharing. I knew some of it but not all. Do you think that type of cancer is prevelant in Nuclear Medicine? Sounds like you do and made the decision to change.

Missy,

Renal Cell cancer is very prevalent in Nuclear Medicine personnel...I know 5 other people that were dealing with it the same time that I was...I mean I go way back to the archives...now, the technologists are a little more protected than when I started.  I mean now days the doses are delivered with the patients names on them. Back when I started, we "milked a radioactive generator", mixed our own medicines, and drew up the doses...it's a little safer now, but the tech's are busier...it's a catch 22...It's a great field, but is it safe for the technologist...I can't say for sure.

The best field for safety is MRI...or Ultrasound.  Ultrasound being the safest...but the most difficult to learn...it's very much in the hands of the talent of the person doing the study...if they miss something the physician wouldn't know....

Kathy,

Thanks, How are you...I worked in the field and taught and lectured, did research, Directed for 25 years gf!

I love Real Estate...now I don't help sick people, I am in my minor (in college - sociology/psychology) as a Real Estate agent...so, fortunately...I've covered all my love interests...medicine and soc/psych!

I guess I've come full circle...now waiting for my kids to get married and have grandbabies to spoil...at least I hope to have one or two out of my three kids...I mean they're 22.24.26....nothing is in progress right now so...I'll just spoil my neighbors kids!  LOL!
