INTUITIVE Feng Shui by Feng Shui Long Island

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

I believe we ALL have some Intuition.  This isn't to say that we always USE it or even acknowledge it, but it's there none the less.  The more you choose to ignore it, the less it will come.  There is something called ‘Intuitive Feng Shui.'  Some Feng Shui Consultants practice by this method only, they use their intuition to guide the changes they feel a client should make.

And some clients have it as well, though they are often unaware of it.  When I am speaking to a client prior to a consultation I will always ask what they know of Feng Shui.  I want to be able to explain the methods I have found to be most effective and make sure that is the type of consultation they are seeking.  Oftentimes they will tell me they aren't familiar with it at all but are interested in learning more about it and having a consultation done.

I TEACH my clients Feng Shui while I am doing the consultation whether I am in their space or on the phone for a distance consultation.  I have always believed that knowledge is power and I can arm them with enough principles and information that instead of having to call me first for their home and then for their office, they will be able to use that new found knowledge and implement it in another space.  It empowers them and encourages them and often will bring out their own intuition.

Feng Shui New York City

Although it's not happened many times, it has happened that I've walked into a client's home and saw a place where I would have thought Feng Shui principles were already applied.  Yet these lovely people have never even read a book about it.  I will see a balance of the elements, a beautiful flow of furniture placement, ornamental features that indicate finances in their wealth section or partnership items already in their relationship areas.  It still amazes me and even more importantly, it amazes them.  When I ask what caused them to place a certain item somewhere or choose the paint colors they've chosen they often answer "it just FELT right."  I also happen to notice these are not the clients that are calling me because they are having any particular issues but rather just because they have an interest or want some knowledge of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui Oyster Bay

I often advise people to make some of their own changes for this reason.  We ALL have our own Intuition and we all know what makes us FEEL good.  One small change can lead to another---and another.  I don't believe in the "scare" tactics that have come along in the last years; if you make a "mistake" you'll likely know it and change it back.

New Years call for new changes.  While you're thinking of all your marketing ideas, think of the impact of your surroundings and what you can do to change them.  You might just find a bit of your own Intuition and start creating things you've only dreamed of!

Hi Carole! This is an excellent post and I completely agree!  It's amazing how you can "feel" and even "see" good and bad energy flowing through a house.

Carole--I knew very little about Feng Shui until reading your posts but when walking into certain houses, they feel like homes. Maybe there is a little Feng Shui in us all if we just open our minds to it.

Carole

Is right!! Before leaving for my Xmas vacations I did a change with the hope for 2008 and the best of my intentions was applied to it. I place a Family wood sculpture in front to a mirror in the family area... and there the miracle happened.  I was waiting for that moment to happen in the deepest part of my heart.

I can't be more Happy and thankful for both my Son and me.

Thanks Carole, Wish you the best and to continue our wonderful friendly relationship from the distance.

Hi Carole,
Call it intuition, gut feeling or what feels right, I think we all possess it.  I know that when I go with what I call my gut feeling, I make the right decisions.  Often times, we over think and over analyze situations and decisions or ask other people for their opinions and end up doing things that work against. us.  Our inner spirit know the right answers, we just have to "listen".

You're absolutely right.  It's the same when people walk into a house and want to run screaming even though there's really nothing that should make them do so.

Jo,Thanks so much.  I've been in a few of those homes and they feel so good.  My clients don't even realized they have used Feng Shui principles until I point them out--and then we're BOTH amazed!

Gary and Richard, I too love the color RED.  It is the auspicious color in Feng Shui and really enlivens a room or, in some places, just on one wall it is used to make an impact or it's used as the Fire element.  I'll bet it's your favorite room in the home.

Ines, I used to ignore my intuition as well, now I listen to it carefully!  I've always made a mistake when I didn't.  I was caught up in letting 2007 go, it was such a great year but I'm finally open to this new, wonderful year and all it has to bring, you're not alone :)!

Melissa, Thank you so much.  I didn't realize I hadn't covered this topic before and thought to write about it.

Sally, You're very right, we all have creativity.  Some people don't realize how creative they are or have the potential to be but it's there.  Go with the flow is always my saying, things work so much better when you do, don't they?

Joanne,It really DOES make sense, most of it.  Some people have many misconceptions about Feng Shui but when you think about the principles of it they don't find it strange at all.  Thanks for your comment.

Deborah, There have been just a few times that I really didn't have much to offer, either.  What I can do is show them how intuitive they are by pointing out the areas and explaining why their home already looks and feels so good :)

Jackie,ANYTHING in your home can be changed if you're not feeling 'good' in it, it's what makes up Western Feng Shui and why I incorporate that.  You can do things inexpensively and easily to get a much better flow of energy in spaces without renovations or moving.  I'm sorry it doesn't sound as if you're feeling all that good in your space at the moment.

Hi Trace!  Thank you for stopping by, you were missed here in the Rain. I'm glad to see you're back!

Diane,I feel that as well and think very much it's predecessor energy from former occupants.  If a home has been left from a divorce or foreclosure there is likely the energy behind of fighting or anger.  But if people have left the home to move up in the world, they have left behind a whole different energy.  Either way, a home or apartment should be cleared first.

Teresa, It is amazing.  Some people are more sensitive to it then others and so some of us feel it more.  There have been a few times I've cleared the home before the consultation so I was more comfortable!

Teri, There really is a little Feng Shui in all of us, some of us don't even realize we're doing it.  But many people know that something they've changed doesn't "feel" right and they may end up changing it's placement.  They just don't know it's Feng Shui.

Maria, I know you know that whatever you placed in front of the mirror intensified it's energy....doubled it.  You're supposed to call me when these things happen, I LOVE to hear them as you know!  Your last phone call thrilled me and now there's more?  Call me when you get a chance...(soon).

Cynthia, That's a good life lesson in your comment, not just for Feng Shui.  I'll get a funny feeling about something and ignore it because it's not making sense at the time...and am always sorry I did.  I don't make that mistake anymore, if something doesn't feel right---it ISN'T.

Gregory, I have been in a few homes that I was terribly uncomfortable.  Since I spend so much time with a client I'll clear the space first and later on try to determine why I was getting such a bad feeling.  It's rare but it happens.  Thank you for your comment.

Carole, I guess this means that I'm encouraging my buyers to use their intuition.  I always tell them not to worry about how many homes we look at...the right one will tell them "this is home".

Hi Carole...Whenever I change a room I walk out and come back in "pretending" I'm a visitor to see how it feels. I do that with every object till it's right!(it can be a matter of inches sometimes!)

Lisa, I think that's wonderful advice!  It's odd that when I was looking for a house I was encouraged to buy a house I didn't even like....my agent at the time told me "just take it for NOW."  I didn't use her after that :)

Joan, I encourage my clients to do the same thing if I'm not there for the changes....or send me pictures of what they've done to their space or go back and revisit.  And I do the same as you in my own home.  Sounds like you're using some pretty good Feng Shui and Intuition skills!

Intuition is an overlooked sense indeed! Not only in Real Estate but in medicine and other disciples as well - excellent post Carole bringing attention to it - because if we are too busy and ignore it - issues usually magnify and don't go away :) thanks for sharing your insights :)

Oh Carole, my intuition says that I need to have a closing so that I can fly you out to Utah to help me put my home office together.  Change is sooooo good and how truly good it feels.  Now I must put the rest together and make sure that positive energy is felt throughout that room. You have such great insight Carole and what a wonderful gift that is.

Carole:  I like the red chairs.  Is there some meaning behind that?  Why is it I like the red chairs but do not like my daughter-in-law's red living room?  She loves it and me, not so much.  It doesn't bother me necessarily, I just would not have picked red for my walls.  Does this mean I'm not very exciting?!  LOL  I think the dynamics of Feng Shui are so fascinating and I enjoy your posts so much.

Hi Carole!  Feng Shui from my point of view goes something like this.  My wife tells me when to rearrange the furniture and where it should go.  She picks the area rugs and the pictures that I hang on the wall.  When it's done I feel good.  Why wouldn't I?  I'd have to move it all again if I complained.  Great post and I'm enjoying the information that you're sharing.  Keep it up!  Peace!

Julie, I hope you get a closing soon my friend.  But I don't need to be there to do a consultation, I do them by distance all the time--and they work!  I am re-organizing my home office, it somehow (always) gets cluttered :(

Donna, Red is the Auspicious Color used in Feng Shui.  It can enliven and stimulate you and I love a room or even an impact wall of red.  It also addresses the use of the element of FIRE.  All those red tablecloths in restaurants are used to stimulate your appetite :)

Jem, I see your point of view exactly :)  What a funny comment!  Listen, if she's happy with it, she's probably right--women have some amazing intuition!

CAROLE- You are so absolutely on target with this post. In my interior design career, I saw the same thing from time to time. I had a habit of asking the client..."How does this make you feel?" It is amazing what they would say as they began to explore their feelings. GREAT STUFF!!

Hi Carole, I'm always amazed that a lot of people discount their intuition. They get their highest thought(which is direct from the higher source) then they don't act on it. Instead their mind kicks in all the doubting thoughts and it is no longer something they want to do. The moment to act is lost and a corner is turned. Loved your post.

The NYC has been cancelled for now. I will have to reschedule. I'll let you know when.

Elizabeth, I have seen some Interior Designs use many of the principles of Feng Shui (such as balance, colors and lighting) but they are not even aware of it!  And I work with other Interior Designers to see what they can incorporate from a Feng Shui aspect.  I am aware of many similarities.

Katerina, I recall being younger and trying to rationalize my intuition...and when I went against it I was always wrong.  Now I listen...carefully!

Lizette, It's funny that if we don't want to "hear it" we can try and find ways to rationalize our intuitions on things.  I used to go against it but don't anymore.  I'm sorry your trip was cancelled...though warmer weather would be wonderful!  You can look into Jet Blue, flying into McArthur on Long Island and taking the train directly to Penn Station...it will put you right in Times Square without so many changes!  And do let me know, I went there during that beautiful day we had this week and am going in tomorrow morning for work.
