After a long two week break from the Carnival.. Its BACK.  I actually forgot about it to tell you the truth.

This week the Carnival was hosted by Housevalues.  (I had no idea they even had a blog).  HouseValues highlighted Bloggers who closed out 2006 and predicted 2007.  I wanted to just touch on the articles that I found were interesting, but to view the entire list of features head over to Housevalues.com where they have all the goods.

The 14 Coolest Real Estate Stories of 2006 - by Joshua Dorkin

Real estate renaissance -  By Micheal Michael Simonsen

Biggest stories in 2006  on the Zillow Blog - by Spencer Rascoff

Theresa Boardman wrote an article on The Tomato, which deserves to be pointed out and highlighted.  Does your broker hate your blog?

Role of real estate agents will be in a Web 2.0 world - by Cliff Jacobson

Compensation vs. performance on ActiveRain - By Broker Byrant

To view the rest of the Carnival's featured posts head over to Housevalues.com (did you know they had a blog?)

January 15, 2007 will be hosted by the ever loving Elvis Fan - Marlow at her 360Digest blog.  Until then, have a great week and like Matt Heaton says "Breathe, Step back and take it all in"

Thanks Christine... Teresa's is the only blog entry I am familiar with.  I knew they had a blog (Housevalues)  deep breathe....

Oh my - HouseValues with a blog?!  Have they "fixed" their business model yet so that if you apply the average web lead conversation rate by the number of leads they guarantee and then by your average commission, you get some sort of ROI rather than just covering the expense of HouseValues (if you're lucky!)?

Christine,

The agent that told us about Active Rain was a fellow House Values Agent.  We had about 4 major sales from HV's this year and now we have the pleasure of the AR community.  One of those sales was an agent from HV's referring a Seller in our area.  She can be seen on our AR list of Associates.  A special thank you to Donna Harris for referring us to AR!

Christine,

Thanks for the heads up. I did not know that HouseValues had a blog. But then, I am not surprised.

Had no idea about Housevalues' blog. I don't bother with them at all and ignore their incessant emails. Guess I need to check this out. Thanks for pointing out some great articles, Christine.

Thanks for letting us know about the Housevalues blog.  We were part of Housevalues up until August of 2006, and when we left they didn't have one, but it must have been in the works.  We'll definitely check it out.

Did anyone else read their blog? I was surprised yesterday and basically it felt like a "testimonial" page to me and anot really a "blog".

Some good articles in this editon -- and I also forgot to nominate anything this time. Oh well, there is always next week.

HV has had a blog since Nov 05.  Of course it's going to be a testimonials blog.  The main blog that is not testimonials is called AgentCEO where Claudia Wicks typically maintains it and posts a lot about the market and such.

You're very welcome Lisa!

I only "went to the Carnival" once when it was here at Seattle PI just before the holidays.  Even though mine was one of the articles selected, I was disappointed in their coverage.  I am hosting it much later this year (the waiting list is very long!) and need to follow it more closely before that time comes.

I'm back...what an amazing compilation.  I started stashing some of the linked articles to read later and then later realized I need to stash the whole list.

Amazing choices and things for doing the research for us to come up with this list.  Invaluable!!

Maureen McCabe - thanks for the heads up.  :>  You also know BB Blog..

Suzanne Marriott - Yup, they have a blog - More like a testamonital blog.  To answer your question - no I don't think that they changed their business model.  Not that I know of anyways.

Lisa and Robert  - Congrats Lisa - I used them for a year and It did not work out.  Most leads were bogus and fake.  I know, I know - before you jump on the HV defense - just understand that NY and other areas are just so night and day - so the generator here - is just not as valuable as it is in other parts of the states.

William Collins - I was shocked!

Toby Boyce - Yup, its all testamony's.  I got bored after the third rah rah..

Donna Harris - Congratulations on your success with HV - Were you featured on the "blog"?

Bryant Tutas-  I am just waiting and waiting.. Nothing yet.. (ahem)..  ???

Ardell - I have so many pages bookmarked and starred from previous Carnivals.  Even though its a competition - to me I think we all benefit.

Christine, I've been featured on the AgentCEO blog because of my article with Realty Time, but I don't believe I've been on the main Housevalues blog.

Hey NY Chic aka Christine...

Congratulations to all and a Hubba! Bubba! on Broker Bryant's "Compensation vs Performance"...

In spite of the fact that he is my husband that was one of the best posts I have ever read. I rewarded him well for that one. Wink. Wink. :)

Thanks for taking care of the Carnival Of Real Estate for all of us here at Active Rain. I will not even ask where you find the time. :)

That HV blog is worth about the same thing as HV stock... (currently trading at $5.29 a share, up slightly from it's 52 week low of $5.08). Claudia's AgentCEO blog is better, not quite as much cheerleading. But in my opinion, there are many far better real estate blogs out there. I have about 70 in my feed reader, and neither HV blog is on it. But that's just me, other opinions will differ.

Thanks for the summary Christine! I haven't posted to the Carnival in several weeks. I need to do that. In fact, more should do it. It's a great avenue for exposure for you blog.

What's up with Vostenak posting the exact same comment on the blogs he visits?

Christine, where are these carnivals listed? It seems like they are hosted all over the place.
