I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my whole life and I love it! Sure it rains, but the beauty that it brings more than makes up for it. You see, most people when they think of Oregon and Washington, they think it rains all the time.

At times it does seem like that, but, with that rain comes year round beauty. We have some of the most wonderful campgrounds, skiing, and beaches in the world because of this rain. I think that is more than a fair trade, and if you ask people who have visited Oregon, you will find that they say they can't believe how beautiful it is.

You see the perception is that we are just wet and cold, but the reality is once you look past it, it can be the greatest place on earth! Everything is within 2 hours of Portland, so if you want to do something, as our local Nike campus would say - JUST DO IT!

At one time we had a Governor with (I am hoping) a sense of humor? He put up a sign at our border that said "Visit, but don't stay!" He knew we were a beautiful place and I guess he wanted to share it in short bursts or didn't need his relatives staying.

But, we have changed our minds here and we would love to have you. So pack up the moving truck, and find out why Oregon is such a wonderful place to live.

I live here in Maui Hawaii and rain fall is about three inches per year.  When we get it it is like heaven from the skies.

Todd, nice pictures (took a while to load, but no biggie)..... I actually don't mind the rain too much.  It's just hard when it doesn't stop for days :)    I really enjoy taking pictures after a rain ....

Now that's being thankful for what you have. The thought of not having rain is not a good one. Just ask those who recently experienced the drought in parts of the southeast.

Todd, the North West is so beautiful. That is the one thing that I miss the most about not living there anymore.

I couldn't agree more. "Rainy and cold" well it can be at times but this has to be one of the most beautiful places in America :) Which I will settle for. Clean air, not TOO MUCH traffic and an "easy going" way of life that there seems to be. I wouldn't trade it for the world :)

Todd, I have never been to Oregon or Washington.  I would like to get there someday soon.  I have lived on the east coast most of my life and have been everywhere on the east coast.  Now, it is time for the west. Your pictures are beautiful.
