New Home Door Style Names and Photos

Below are descriptions of the top 5 coolest to new home interior door styles you will love - with pictures and style names.

Each of these doors styles are taken from different custom homes built by Stanton Homes.

How are different types of doors defined?

Interior door types are defined by the number, shape, and size of panels will distinguish each door style. Other factors (which can affect the cost of a door) include the materials the door is made of, how the door is finished (painted or stained), and how tall the door is.

The Santa Fe new home door style is multi-dimensional - with arched radius set of panels.

The custom home pictured to the right used a Santa Fe style stained solid wood front entry door that matched all interior doors (including closet and pantry doors).

But front door styles do not have to match interior door styles - in fact, front doors are often chosen in different colors and styles for dramatic entrances.

The Santa Fe door style can have a rustic appeal. Make sure this type of door flows with the rest of your home design, however, or it may look out of place.

New Home Door Style 3: The Provincial

A Provincial interior door has four vertical panels with a cathedral arch (an arch with a "dip" in the middle) spanning the top two panels.

New Home Door Style 4: The Avalon

The Avalon interior door design uses three differently sized rectangle panels.

The top panel is the largest and the middle panel is the smallest.

In this home, the middle panel of the avalon doors mirrors the 13-piece craftsman style crown moulding above the doorway.

Other home styles can integrate Avalon doors as well - such as a contemporary home with lots of simple and clean lines.

New Home Door Style 5: The Continental

Hi Penny,

I liked seeing the doors in their settings...and now I am wondering if it is possible to "upgrade" a door of any of these styles to have it be a solid wood??

Janeanne - yes, most of these styles can be upgraded to a solid wood.  Solid wood doors are fairly rare these days though, and the price tag can be hefty.  A solid core door is much more common, and has a very reasonable cost.
