Teral, your photo is worth thousands of words. Five brave men in my family have served this great nation.
Absolutely. Amen.
That is wonderful Sharon that you come from a family of veterans. I have four generations of military service in my family and blessed that they all came home from their duty.
Thank you for sharing Bob & Bonnie.
Teral~ We get so wrapped up in the idea of a holiday weekend and time off with family and we forget the reason for the holiday. Thank you to all the men and women who have served and who continue to serve so that we may enjoy our freedoms!
Teral,
I don't know if you found that photo or made it, but it is outstanding. Thank you. :)
Steve
Teral, this is such a simple photo, such a simple thought, but so incredibly profound. It very quickly brought tears to my eyes. Thanks so much.
Hi Donna, we do tend to forget the significance of the holiday unless we are one that knows the loss. Thank you for the reblog.
Hi Steve, the photo is clipart from a subscription. I too thought it illustrated the meaning of the holiday based on the words of Jesus. Thank you for reblogging.
Hello Carolyn, I am touched by your warm heart and tenderness; thank you for sharing.
Teral, I wanted to add something. My dad was in a movie theatre when someone told him about Pearl Harbor. Within days he gave up a job that offered deferment and told his father he was going to sign up. His father, my grandfather, was wounded severely in WWI and laid in a trench for 3 days before anyone could get to him. He just told my father, "Whatever you do , do not sign up for the infantry for Heaven's sake." He signed up for Army Aircorps and became a pilot first as an instructor in Texas and then volunteering to go to Europe. Here's to my family history of serving. Thank you to all of them for the sacrifice. Thanks Pop.
Teral,
Congratulations. Your post is now featured in "Observances and Celebrations." :)
Steve
Thank you, Bob & Bonnie's pop for stepping up to the call and serving your country; God bless.
Steve, much appreciated for the feature; thank you.
Your photo speaks a thousand words and then some. Very inspirational indeed (even though Im a day behind)
Hi Teral, a very inspirational post....definitely illustrates the meaning of the holiday based on the words of Jesus.
The call to duty can happen on any day so I'm thinking you reflecting on that ultimate call is never too late, thanks John.
Thank you, Rebecca those that have made that sacrifice for Christ shall one day hear him say "Well-done!".
