24 Comments on Arlington Cemetery-Honoring Our Veterans On Memorial Day
Cindy, thanks for this important point. We shall and can never forget these hero's.
Today we remember those who are serving and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Great post - Happy Memorial Day to you.
Cindy ~ Every year my daughter makes it a point to get out to Arlington to visit as she lives in DC.. This year she is away, but will be making the trip soon. Her uncle served many years ago and she goes to represent the entire family... and say Thank you!
Richard-not to worry the US 3rd Infantry Regiment took care of everyone.
Jerry-thanks for your service to our country.
Jim-it is and a tradition that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.
Frank-absolutely they are always remembered.
Gina-thank you for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
Jon-it's always causes a pause to see the flags when you enter the gates of Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.
Janis-how thoughtful of your daughter. The area will be packed this weekend with the thousands who come to DC for Rolling Thunder and other events in the area.
I have never been there when the flags are being placed and I can imagine just how sombering such an event is. Like Rolling Thunder it is on my bucket list. Happy Memorial Day to you and your family.
Very touching....gives me goosebumps!
Here's my friend Anna, Art in Motion! Sea Cliff NY giving her Memorial day solute.
It is so difficult at times to view the large number of graves in our national cemeteries.... so many have given their lives to protect us.
A wonderful tribute to all the great Americans that gave their lives to keep us free. I come from a long line of veterans, but have never been to see Arlington Cemetary.
Martha-it's a sight to see all the flags in the cemetery. They don't stay as long as the wreaths at Christmas do. They will be picked up Monday night.
Ellen-Anna obviously has the spirit of the weekend captured.
Judi-all of the military cemeteries are chilling reminders of the cost of war.
Kay-thank your family for their support of our country through their service.
William-it is hallowed ground and should be treated as such by those who visit. All anyone has to do is go to Section 60 which is where the latest graves are to realize how costly our conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have been.
