Get Your Home Picture Perfect Ready

Let's face it a picture is worth a thousand words! Your home may be the gem of your eye but if your agent doesn't get this across in the pictures then selling your home may end up being more of a challenge than once thought. Get Your Home Picture Perfect Ready and you may see that offer you have been waiting for.

A lot of time when searching on the internet prospective home buyers will take a glance at the primary photo and if it isn’t up to par they will move on. The home could be exactly what they are looking for but the initial photo was wasn’t appealing enough to look any further. Take a look at the MLS and see what appeals to you. If you don't like the pictures do the opposite!

It is your Real Estate Agent’s job to help make your home as appeasing as possible. It is your responsibility to tidy up before a photo shoot just as you would when getting family photos done. Here are a few tips on how to get Your Home Picture Perfect Ready.

1.    Clean up! Sometimes our days get hectic with kids, work, hobbies etc. and our homes show for that. Be sure to pick up toys, make beds, and clean up bathrooms and kitchens. Now don’t stress yourself with a complete “Merry Maids” work over just make your home as presentable as you can.

2.  Put away pictures of family and friends. We all just love decorating our homes with photos of the ones we love. When photos are taken of a home we need to remind ourselves that the buyer needs to picture themselves in your home. Pictures and paintings from your children are heartwarming but when they are plastered all over the frig the pictures may look a bit cluttered.

3.     Take down festive decorations. I am one to decorate for most holidays but if your home is being photographed in December and has been on the market for a few months (not uncommon) that Christmas tree in the middle of the living room is going to be a reminder to the buyer that your hoe has been on the market for a while. If at all you can wait to put up the decorations until after the photos you will save yourself trouble in the long run. If you have already put up your attics worth of decorations ask your agent if maybe they can come back out after the initial photos and take more after the holiday is over.

4.     Put away your collections. You have been collecting Precious Moments figurines since you can remember and you just love to show them off but if you leave them out during photos this could leave your home looking cluttered and un appealing. Try putting them in safe quarters until your home. Even after pictures you will want your collections to be put away for showings. Don’t worry in your new home you can put out all of your collections and enjoy them!

5.     Pull up those weeds! You may have been putting off pulling those weeds but what better motivation than selling your home. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words and the primary photo (in most cases) will be the front of your home. Make it as inviting as possible. Plant flowers for color and mow the grass. If you can make the outside look nice the buyers are more likely to want to see the inside.

Putting your home on the market may have you stressed and the thought of not selling adds even more stress. Make your home as appealing as possible to those prospective buyers. The majority of all buyers use the internet to view your home. Make sure what they are seeing is the true representation of your home. Make them want to buy it as much as you did when you first bought!
