The 16th annual Jonesborough Garden day is Saturday, May 26.   I should have given you more notice, but I hope it’s not too late for you to make plans to enjoy it.   Eleven private gardens will be open on a walking tour from 12:30 to 5:00 and there are a number of interesting things to do in the morning and throughout the day.   A number of artists from Jonesborough’s Fine Arts Co-op will be participating and we’ll enjoy such things as a silent auction, a harpist, refreshments, discounts at shops all kinds of interesting things to do in addition to the walking tour – silent auction, harpist, refreshments, workshops and seminars, among other things.

One highlight for me will be the pressed-flower class that Pat Smith will be teaching at 11:15 At the Visitors Center.   I did the class before with a group of friends and we had an delightful time creating our own pictures from the large collection of pressed flowers she provides.

I’ll also give her another order for more of her beautiful pictures that combine calligraphy with the floral designs.   I enjoy framing them and giving the pictures as gifts for all kinds of occasions – housewarming gifts, wedding and baby shower gifts, birthdays – everything that can be enhanced by a pretty picture with a good sentiment.    Maybe she’ll have some examples on display.

The gardens are open from 12:30-5:00 and the weather is supposed to be good.   Come enjoy the tour and all the activities.   At registration at the Visitors’ Center  ($16.50 that day), we’ll get maps and bright swatches to identify us as having contributed to the community programs which benefit from this event and to entitle us to discounts at various shops.

The recent article in Johnson City Press mentioned a lot of other good reasons to put this on your calendar.    The Jonesborough Farmer’s is also that day at the Courthouse and the Garden Marketplace will be open 9:00-5:00 with plants and garden accessories.

Stop by Alison Gilliam’s Lavender Store while you’re  in downtown Jonesborough and you’ll stop by every time you go through town afterward just to get a whiff of the heavenly scent, and maybe to buy goodies for yourself and gifts.

I'm frustrated.   It's not showing up on my web site.   I wanted to show it to my friend Pat Smith, who does incredible pressed flower picdtures.    It looks like I may miss it myself, which I really hate.
