Need some educational websites for the kids this summer that are actually fun, too?
I found these in some of my backlog of reading, and I checked them out.
Not only are they fun, I would bet that many people don’t know about them, and they are free.
What could be better than that?
The first one is called Chain Reaction for Kids and was developed by a scientist at Arizona State University, Conrad J. Storad.
This one can be used by teachers, too, in a printed format. Just check the home page.
I wish that I had been able to extract DNA when I was a kid…although I don’t think anyone knew much about that at the time.
The second one is The Surrealist Chronicle. In the1920s and 30s, surrealists made up word games to play with what’s real and what’s not. They had me already with that statement. There are any number of word games here that are really interesting, and the neat thing is that once you have made your own special edition, you can save it and send it to your inbox.
The last one is presented by Minyanville and the Council for Economic Education to help kids learn about money management. We love this. Now, when you retire, you can be assured that your kids will be able to afford you!
The concept of Minyanland.com is that there is a town where you earn and spend money. It sounds like a blast, and even though I went there, I didn’t want to get too involved. But, you and your kids will want to.
