8 Comments on Can't I Find My House and Then Get Pre-Qualified?
Kristin, sometimes when a buyer asks a question like this... all the logical things you can tell them about the process can fall on deaf ears.
I usually tell them something like... "Sure you can, but do you really want to end up playing the 'find the house, lose the house' game?"
Sure, they will look at you funny, but then you go into your "feel, felt, found" close... where you tell them that you know how they feel, and that you have had other clients who felt the same way... but after finding several homes they wanted, and then trying to get pre-qualified... and losing that particular home to another buyer who had their pre-approval in hand... they found they were so frustrated that they ended up going out and GETTING their pre-approval so it wouldn't happen again.
Just a thought. "suggested"
Kristin, excellent post! I hear this often too that buyers want to look first to see if they find something they like then they'll get pre-approved. Sometimes they may not be ready to buy until 6 months down the road, depending on their credit. Very thorough post and all really great points every buyer must read! Thank you for your post today,
Hi Karen Anne,
Yes you are right, that has happened with my clients too. Or the lender that want to use doesn't work on the weekend so by Monday, the house has an accepted offer. It happens.
Happy Memorial Day.
Hi Pamela,
Thanks so much for stopping and commenting. Yes, I tried to make it complete as we have had this happen as Realtors in the past. I try to avert this situation now.
Excellent information and now suggested!
Hi John,
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate the compliment. Have a great weekend.
Thanks for sharing - it's far to competitive right now to not be READY to buy. Regards, Dave
Hi Dave,
Exactly and if they do not have all the documents in hand, someone else's offer will beat them out. Thanks for sharing and have a great MD weekend.
