I like to update my resume every year, its a tool I use when working with buyers and sellers, and as I was about to update this very vital piece of information I went on AR to see if I could get any pointer's about writing a great real estate resume and did not see any info on this subject: So, here goes. "Producing an outstanding resume with these 10 essentials".
When approaching writing your resume, focus on who is going to be reviewing this document. Each resume must be tailor to the audience that you hope to capture the attention of.
- What ever you do --- do not embellish your credentials, if; for some reason your experience is light in a particular area, try to target your strengths in this area, then move on.
- Re-work your resume at least three times.
- Keep it to one page. Save it on your computer.
- Provide a cover letter, if mailing the resume out.
- Stay current; do not go back to when you were in kindergarten.
- Provide a summary either in the beginning or at the end.
- Many resume template start out with an objective for your resume, I would say that a personal call. Sometimes it works other times it seems redundant.
- How to deliver: Many times I have heard that it is in your best interest to deliver your resume in person. This has worked for me. To each it is a person call. If you want to email this information make sure that you have reviewed it carefully, and that all spelling and grammar errors are caught before submitting.
- Remember that your resume must show how you would benefit this particular company, or person. Provide current references.
I have found that with presenting my resume to a FSBO or Expire when I have appointments with these prospects ---it gives me an edge. It also, helps with follow-up calls to said prospects.
