Having some fun with the NH Primary

It's that time again...the Primary madness is in full swing.  God Bless New Hampshire voters.  The signs everywhere you go, the commercials nonstop, the flyers overflowing from the mailbox, and oh save us...the phone calls.  This past weekend I actually found a way to make the phone calls fun.  My husband and I had friends visiting and whenver the phone rang we all screamed which candidate we believed was calling.  Once we all had our choice, I answered the phone and waited to see which prediction was right.  It was so much fun...the person on the other end said "hello I'm calling with the Clinton campaign" and before they could go any further I would yell to the room "it's Hillary" I win!!  Everyone would cheer and I would hang up the phone.  I'm sure the volunteers at the other end thought we were cheering in support of the candidate.  We actually looked forward to the phone ringing.  At one point the doorbell rang...lets just say, that guy didn't know what hit him.

Another thought:   Is it me, or have there been a lot more debates this time around?  I think debates are a good idea, but I think they would be a lot more fun if after each one we could vote someone off the campaign trail just like they vote people off the reality shows.  Then when it gets down to the final two, we call in our vote like American Idol.  Now that is the American way!

This is GREAT!  I can't wait until our Illinois primary gets closer!  I will borrow your gameshow format for callers!  I love the idea of running the campaigns like a reality show, too!

Here's to a GREAT '08!

Be of service!  The rewards will come!

Sharon, sounds like you all had some fun with the calls.  I think your idea of voting someone off just might work.  At least we're down to a reasonable number of candidates to choose from.

Sharon, enjoy it! Here in Virginia we don't have nearly the fun with it...our primary is virtually invisible and we fall after Super Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Hi Sharon,

I have been thinking how much fun it would be to be in Iowa or New Hampshire and really get to talk to the people that are running.  Thank you for sharing.

It is interesting to watch although it will take some time to see which of the candidates really does get the push. Interesting that NH seems to be treating the Clinton machine so negatively.

Holly and Leslie:   For all our complaining here in NH about the madness, I really do consider us lucky to have the opportunity that we have to get up close and actually meet the candidates.

Matt and Judy:  We did have fun.  Matt,  I hope you have as much fun as we did!

Gary:  We have been hit hardest in marketing from the Clinton campaign. There is a lot of time and money being spent there!

Patricia:  It will be nice to have the phone and doorbell stop ringing, but you know Wednesday will be saturated with media reports of Tues. results.

Hi Sharon - I, for one, will be glad when today is over!  I wrote a post the other day about all the phone calls, signs, intersections, etc., and how it was driving me nuts.  Dinnertime was the worst, but today is voting day, and actually there's less than half an hour left before the polls close.  I was still getting calls when I got home a couple of hours ago - jeez.....

Ann  I too was getting calls right up to the last minute...offering rides to the polls...I guess we should give these people some credit for being so driven and devoted to their candidates.  It felt good to tell them "I already voted" and shut them right down.
