It is Safe to Plant the Tomatoes in St. Michael Minnesota

By
Real Estate Agent with Sabinske & Associates, Inc. (Albertville, St. Michael)

While the temperatures are still a little nippy for humans to go swimming in St. Michael or Albertville, Minnesota, it is still warm enough overnight for the tender tomatoes, peppers and other warm weather crops now.

We were able to get quite a few plants in the ground yesterday and staked in hopes of tremendous growth of our little seedlings.

I had planted onions and radishes in the garden, but they would have to be pretty good swimmers to survive the lake bed over them now.

Another hundred year rain, just like last year’s.

But hope always springs eternal in a gardener’s heart!

Time to get them in.  Had mine in about 2 weeks ago but I was ready to cover them if the temps got to cold.

wow, mine have been growing like weeds for months already and now that we are getting plenty of rain, they should do even better.

I had forgotten about planting so late in colder climates.................

I was able to plant my tomatoes a few weeks ago and already reaping the rewards of my labor.  It is 95 degrees here today so we won't see a real cool down now for several months.

Suzanne, It seems like it has been hot here for 2 months. Some tomato plants have green tomatoes already if you can believe that.

Hi Suzanne - We just got our tomatoes, peppers and flowers in this last weekend. I think we're safe, but you never know here - Mother Nature has quite a sense of humor sometimes.

I agree with Dick (who doesn't?),  We planted a couple and kept a couple on the screened in porch just in case.

Hi Suzanne,

Could you send a little of your rain our way? We could sure use some of mother's nature humor to stretch to Austin, Texas!

Profit from my two decades of experience

Hi Suzanne, We've had a pretty mixed spring in Seattle, rain, hot days and lots of wind which is unusual for April & May. Had lots of gardeners out this last week-end.

Good luck with your garden!

Hi Suzanne! I'm hoping the beans and peppers I planted over the weekend actually result in some produce.  And.... congrats on reaching the 500,000 mark  ;)

Hi Suzanne- I've gotten my tomotoe plant in but, held off on the herbs. It's been in the 90's so I guess I need to get that taken care of. Don's blog lead me here and I wanted to wish you Congratulations on the 500k mark!

Suzanne we talked about planting a couple of tomatoes here.  We opted to stick to the local market.  They draw squirrels and rabbits here.  Tomatoes are like chocolate to humans :)

We got ours in a few weeks ago, and then lost a couple of tomato plants to some cold and wind. Only a few, so we replaced those, and are still thankful for the early start we got with the rest of the plants. Our season is so short here. End of May to about the 3rd week of September. Not quite four months.
