In my experience sometime the best contractors can not start soon enough since they are in such demand.
Good morning Tom. This is terrific information and timely for me. I am meeting contractors next week for an estimate of a job on a home I hope to close later in June. I asked them on the phone what availabity they would have if we can come together. It is a mutual commitment though. Nicely done.
Being able to make a decision to authorize the job can get things moving pretty quickly. If they can't make the decision in a reasonable time, they probably never will. It's tough to schedule around other people's decisions.

I can imagine that you must have honed your project management skills to perfection, having to juggle so may projects all at once. But yes, total commitment from the client is essential. That includes their doing what they're supposed to do so that you can work -- like getting the place ready for your workers, and providing access

That has been my experience too Doug. Those that can make the decision will usually do so, one way or the other, right away.
I had to laugh at your comment Pacita, I can't tell you how many times we show up and have to do the things that the owner or resident was supposed to do.
