My journey to the mystical 100,000 mark!

Real Estate Agent with Orlando Area Real Estate Services

Well it has been a curious journey to get to this milestone. It had three starts and included a long layoff for back surgery, but I made it over the weekend and then someone suggested I post here about exactly how I got here.

It was back in June of 2006 that I first became aware of Active Rain. I stayed on it for a while and then it kind of found its way to the back burner.

Then I found it again just before I had back surgery. I thought it would be a good thing to do to learn while I was laid up for the week and a half that my doctor told me about. But things didn't quite go according to plan and so I was out of action for almost three months.

Then I found the Rain again and have been here daily ever since.

It is an interesting and diverse community where I have learned a lot, shared a lot and given both members and the public through localism, a glimpse at the real me. I do think it is important that your blog says something about you as well as about real estate and so there are some personal things on here about me. A bit of politics; a bit of sports; a bit about my family and of course real estate too.

So there you have it. I could list a whole bunch of my blog entries that brought me to this point, but I'm sure those that care will go back and find them for themselves.

Here's to the next 100,000 and I'll see you then!

Congratulations on a job well done, Simon.  I am enjoying your posts and your clever comments.  I also agree that some of you has to show through your blog, or people don't have any kind of connection to who you are.  I think that makes for some very successful agent/client match-ups, not to mentions referrals.  I also just like to learn about people and hear another point of view.  Keep up the great work!

Simon - You may consider changing markets. Even with the time off, you should have earned more than $100,000 in the time span mentioned.

I believe that you are very right. Blogging about your personal life and real estate gives the reader a well rounded perspective of the character that you are.

Simon:

Groan.

When I saw you eclipsed 100k, I was waiting with baited breath for the BIG 100k BLOG full of pictures of all your friends and foes, links to our favorite arguments debates and real life's lessons.  I bought extra popcorn for the occasion.  I made phone calls and sent out e-mail invites for the BIG BLOG.  I was going to make a night of it.

I waited and waited.  What?  You only wrote 7 sentences?  My popcorn is going to waste.  The people I have e-mailed in preparation for the big post are all disappointed too.  No fan fare.

No really.  Brevity is a virtue.  Congrats!

100k Simon - good job.

I have only been in group for the most recent, but I like the way you write and I will enjoy looking forward with you and looking back at some of your history.

Best wishes for the next 100k (and a renewable option for more)

Andrew - thanks for the comments.

Bill - sorry to disappoint, but you know after the Holidays you should probably put that popcorn down for a while anyway (by "The Holidays" I mean Christmas and New Year and NOT "Rama-Hana-Kwanz-Mas").
