Jay - I still think you have a marvelous idea. How many Segways have you given away so far??

Seriously?  The segway was a big dud when it was introduced to great fanfare as the genius invention of the century.  Don't you think most people would just rather have $5000.

Gimmicks are gimmicks.  Seems silly to me.

Pam...Just another thought...This is not a gimmick, it's a gift.  Sure, some people might prefer to have $5,000.  So would I, but I'm giving it away.  I've never given anyone something worth $5,000 before simply for listing their home with me.  So this is a HUGE expression of appreciation and is intended to create new business...although all my "old business" clients are entitled to the same offer, one which they are extremely grateful for.

And Pam, make no mistake, the Segway IS one of the genius inventions of our time.  Perhaps just a little ahead of your time.

So is it working out, giving away a segway?  I've never rode one.  The police in my city use them in the Downtown area, I've often considered jumping on one and test riding it when they are writing tickets, but I would not do well in Jail.  They look like they would be fun to ride though.  I'm a Realtor, but I would consider using you for a Segway.  Perhaps the dog would get walked more often if I had one HA!!!

How many have you given away?  Do you have them wrapped like a car with your info on it?  They draw attention anyways, so the public should know where they are coming from!

Chad...You need to try one out!  You will love it, guarranteed.  Funny you should mention the dog, because I have (just once) walked our dogs (one at a time, of course) with the Segway.  They got a lot of exercise.  When I give a Segway away, it's wrapped with a huge red bow on the front and engraved with "Compliments of The Coldwell Banker Guy" (www.thecoldwellbankerguy.com) and the local news media are invited.

Jay, I think this is a brilliant  marketing idea! I'd buy a home with you even without the Segway. Hope you have to give dozens away.

You might want to post this  in "The Art of Marketing You" group.
