Mortgage Market Snapshot 5.30.12 new record lows!!

New record lows and new record opportunities!

Well I am not surprised but still am in a bit of disbelief at the range the FNMA 3.5 coupon is trading at currently. After struggling to pierce through the 104.00, seeming, glass ceiling earlier this month we have been holding strong and showing great support for the 104 level. After peaks and valleys the 104 level held fast and now is poised to potentially hit the unbelievable (never before seen) 105 level. After today's strong open at +21 bps it ended on an equally positive note and hit +27bps ending today's trading session at over 104.70! Tomorrow could be the day we see a 104.90 but also be weary of profit takers and a potential for a 25bps sell of could be very real.

Regardless how you interpret data, the bottom line is simply this... We in the US are in the middle of the best interest rates EVER! If you don't own a home you better get off your butt and go get one while the great deals are still too be had. Don't be lulled into a false sense of it wont matter its always going to be weak as that is not true today or historically and there are already signs showing the market has bottomed and prices are going to rise!

Do yourself a favor and GO BUY A HOME or GO BUY AN INVESTMENT PROPERTY while you can and while they are at all time affordability levels!

Hi David - I'm glad you're keeping us informed about this, as well as what it means. I just saw a story last night about bonds now being a refuge for EU money looking for a safe harbor - at this moment, it's all coming together for homebuyers, but there's little to be gained by waiting and trying to squeeze a few last pennies out. You're right that the time to make a move is now.
