Google announced yesterday that they were (once again) making changes to the Google Maps / Google Listings to include a more rubust system and incorporate the new social networking site Google Plus (Google +)

So What is Google Plus Local exactly and how is it different.

Google Plus Local aka Google Plus Local Pages is the new combination of Google Plus and Google Listings from the original Google Maps.  As more smart phones and tablet devices come onto the market, they will all have GPS capabilities.  So as your customer might be searching for services or products in your area, they will most likely do it from a mobile device.

Google Plus Local Pages will have three new main features, however, I am sure that in the coming weeks, there will be many updates

1. Google Plus Local will be completely indexable by the search engines - SO make sure that you have relavent content, that you post often, and that you upload pictures and videos.  (Make sure you make friends with people - because the content that my Google + friends post is first in my search engine results (if I am logged into Gmail)
2. Google Plus Local Pages will incorporate ZAGAT reviews - a company that Google purchased September 2011.  So new Google Plus Local Pages will not have the old 5 star rating system, but now a numerical system with a maximum score of 30 points for Google Local optimized businesses.
3. Google Plus Local will not let you upload videos or photos from the old portal.  While you can still manage your reviews and information from the original google listings area. You might as well bite the bullet and jump on over to Google Plus and set up your Google Plus Local Pages

Of course, like most professionals, you are probably thinking, I dont have the time and I don't know what I am doing. (Trust me, if you make your Google Plus Local Pages incorrectly, all the SEO work that you have ever done will be lost FOREVER and it's a nine month process to get reinstated with Google!)
