You never know who will be a star.
Tonight we learned that San Diego sweetheart, Jessica Sanchez was the runner up and Phillip Phillips of Leesburg, Georgia was crowned the winner of American Idol. In its eleventh season, this popular show has made many a star and not all of them came in first place. In fact, many of the best known contestants did not win. Clay Aiken was the runner up of season two and Jennifer Hudson actually came in seventh in the third season. Although neither won the show’s title, they remain two of the biggest household names post Idol.
Who knows what will happen next for Sanchez, Phillips or any of the competitors. As everything in life it will be up to the person, the chances that come their way and the paths they choose to take. One of my previous sales managers often said, “luck is when preparedness meets opportunity.” I believe that part of being prepared is confronting fears and not letting them stand in our way.
Some believe fear is a weakness, others that it should remain hidden. The truth is, we all have the emotion of fear. I am sure that both Sanchez and Phillips experienced fear at different times throughout the competition, most likely starting with the audition.
