Look at this Giant Snowball!

in Loma Linda and Redlands, CA

Yesterday, when I was out taking pictures in Loma Linda and Redlands, CA, while the sky was still blue, I noticed the moon and it made me think of a huge Snowball Cupcake.

Snowball Cupcakes were first made in 1947 and just had white tops and no crème filler. Then in the fifties, they added crème to the center and started making the pink snowballs too. This snack has been an icon for over 60 years.

Yesterday when I looked up, I thought Yum Yum….I used to love them when I was a kid.

Doesn’t it look like one especially after I did a little adjustment?

What is your favorite snack? Did you like snowballs as a kid?................Yummy.

I don't remember eating the white ones but I think I ate the pink ones and if I remember right they were chocolate inside. Probably my fav snack as a kid was chocolate cupcakes. My fav cupcake now is the orange ones. Don't like the chocolate now. I also ate a lot of twinkies, ho ho's and ding dongs.

Hi Sharon,

I really liked the pink ones which I am sure did not taste any different that the white ones but the color was much more appealing. I remember they came out with orange ones during Halloween and they were tasty too. I liked the hostess cupcakes as they had frosting and creme in the middle.

Hi John,

It is amazing how good something tastes when we were kids and now we go yuk! I used to love Moon Pies and the last time I tasted one, I wondered how I ever thought it was good. But I do like Hostess cup cakes but I never buy them.....Just go into the AM-PM and get a diet coke instead.

There was a time when I was a kid when I loved Snowballs, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos. Then, at some time while in my 20s, I began to detect the chemical taste of the flavors. I don't know if the chemical flavors were always there, or the magical wonder of all that sugary stuff began to wane when I came older.
