This is is not a political post.  This is a real estate post. Short and  simple.

The people of the United States elect a new president every 4 years.

A new President of the United States brings a new administration, new ideas, new programs, new people.  Out with the old.  In with the new.

Most government employees, diplomats, judges, civil servants, ambassadors, staff people, cabinet members, lobbyists, policy makers, and their families choose to live in Northern Virginia, Washington D.C. or suburban Maryland.

Many of those on the way out will choose to move from the D.C. area.  Those who hold the new positions will be looking for homes in Northern Virginia, D.C., and Maryland.

Northern VirginiaThe Presidential Election is good for real estate in Northern Virginia.  Many homes will be going on the market come November.  Many more people will be relocating to Northern Virginia and D.C.

Do you know who's going to win?

Hopefully the new president will not try to raise the capital gains.  That will be hurt the recovery.

Brian - This is a good post.  I have been through two previous Presidential elections during my real estate career, and both times it was good for the market here as well.  By the way, I also like the Hillary graphic.

Brian, yes I know how is going to win, but I am sworn to secrecy.

Hint.. They don't wear a skirt...Wait a minute HC doesn't wear a skirt.

Change that to they don't wear lipstick... wait a minute Guilianni dressed as a drag queen...

Hint They have been married to one woman......that narrows the field a bit

Hope you sell a lot a homes to the bureaucrats

Brian, interesting that I'd never thought of this before. How the "comings and goings" of DC can affect the market. Duh! Out of sight (read out of my wallet in this case) out of mind.

I love how this is an a-political post (ix-nay illary-hay) and that you haven't interjected any opinion at all LOL!!! Cute graphic though!

Interesting comments, I enjoyed them very much. Billary might become the nominee over Barcaca Hussien Oprama?

Now the Hillary photo might indicate that you aren't a fan?  Our market has the advantage of all of the military and government transfers that come and go on a regular basis.  My barometer is going to be how many of my military clients want to rent vs buy with the upcoming set of orders.

Looks like a Political Post to me - with a picture like that of Hilary!  Sorry - I think thats in bad taste.

If you want to make fun - make fun of all or none.

Brian  Arthur and I have been through 8 Presidential Campaigns as REALTORS and it really has never had a a noticeable impact on real estate activity in the area.  The number of people coming and going is insignificant and the staffers are primarily renters.  Additionally, since most of the Representatives and Senators are re-elected the impact there is almost non-existent.  I hope I am wrong, but I am looking at past activity as a guide.  Remember, the activity is spread over DC, MD and VA - a drop in the bucket.  Also, many of them rent, share apartments and fly home at the end of the week as well

I fully expected the Hillary graphic to have a link on it.  I think you should add that!  Yes, the change of administrtion does bring us business...  We are in a unique situation.

Brian, I like your "spin" but I'm really sorry that you only have movement in your market every 4 or 8 years.

That is what is so great about our area.  Every time there is an election, we get a new influx of people that keeps the real estate churning.  I liked your Hillary Devil!

RANDY:  I definitely agree with your comment.  A low capital gains tax certainly benefits all of us in the real estate industry as well as being a big encouragement for home ownership.

CINDY:  Yes, the military transfers in and out are a big part of the migration to and from the D.C. Capital Area.  Thanks for your comments, and yes, you did get at least a small hint of my politics.  I'm not telling any more right now.

JAMES:  Thanks for your comment.  I'm sorry you find the post to be in bad taste, but I'm not criticizing anyone else's political views and may or may not be expressing my opinion here.  After all, it is my post on my blog and I don't see a problem with presenting my views if I wish.  There are likely Democrats, Republicans and Independents who will all find the graphic funny, and they can make up their own minds whether or not they wish to associate with me because of the post.  I certainly could have poked fun at all the candidates, but in this case, did not wish to do so.
