The process of finding the right home to purchase can be stressful and overwhelming. In general, it’s always good to get pre-approved before house hunting. In any case though, you will need to officially apply for a home loan. There are many things that need to be in order for you before applying, and certain documents are required. Here is an easy and concise list of the documents you will need to gather in order to apply for a home loan.

-First, remember that there are fees with this application. They vary, and you should expect them as an added expense in the home purchasing process. Don’t be afraid to shop around at different banks and lenders such as Legacy Lending Group, and LendingTree.com so that you can discover differences, such as the cost in fees.

-You will need a sales contract that has been signed by both the Buyers and the Sellers.

-Addresses for all residences you have lived in within the previous 2 years. If you have been renting then provide the names and addresses of landlords as well.

-Social Security numbers for all applicants. If you and your spouse are applying, then both of your Social Security numbers are required.

-All employers and their names and addresses for the last 2 years.

-Information for all other loans you currently have. This includes auto loans, student loans, other mortgage loans, etc.

-All information for every bank account you have in your name including account numbers, bank names and addresses, and include any stocks or bonds you own.

-You will also need copies of your W-2 forms from last 2 previous years.

These documents are usually standard when applying for any home loan. However, if you are  applying for a V.A. loan, more tax information is usually required. Do your research before you apply for a home loan. Banks have websites with home loan information, and will sometimes list what they require as far documents brought. You can also contact your bank to see if there are any additional documents they require.
