I wanted to share this event with all of you local folks that would like to make a difference in someone's life who really needs the help right now. We hear of national stories all the time, good people who have had terrible things happen to them.
This charity event is being held for a local lady named Maria Turner who is a courageous 34-year-old woman who has been fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma since she was pregnant with her third child in 2004. In spite of being told to terminate her pregnancy, she bravely carried her child and gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Now Maria is fighting for her own life. After taking chemo, radiation and her own bone marrow transplant, Maria's cancer has returned. As soon as Maria completes her pre-transplant testing she will receive her transplant.
Maria, her husband and three children currently reside in Harwood, MD. They will have to move temporarily, a minimum of 2 months, in order to live in close proximity to the hospital for Maria's daily appointments. During this time Maria will have to be quarantined. Their income will be very limited. As you can imagine, they will need help in covering medical expenses, a caretaker, and rent payments, which are all in addition to their regular mortgage.
Maria's friend, Jennifer Patrick, is planning this event and all the proceeds will go into the Maria Turner Trust Fund, set up at Suntrust Bank, for Maria and her family, to help cover their expenses during this time. Here are the details:
