Normally Wenatchee is a pretty nice, peaceful, town to drive around in. Today was different. After the huge windstorm from yesterday, the roar of chain saws dominated the sound waves. I took my camera out to preview some of the damage... yet trying to stay out of the way of clean-up crews.
Lots of roofing material littering the entire region and plenty of big (old timber) evergreen trees literally sucked up by their roots and thrown to the ground or, in some cases, into homes and onto cars.
The home featured above, which I sold several years ago, now has a large uprooted Douglas Fir tree leaning against it. This is not an uncommon sight today.
Here are some more samples of the debris about town. The house is covered with, and surrounded by fallen trees. The root ball is a typical example of uprooted trees littering the town. The van nearly got buried, but probably just scratched. If you look closely at the next picture, you will see a smooshed car under the collapsed carport at the Washington West condo complex The rest of the photos are just more samples of the debris and roof damage about town. There will be no shortage of firewood this winter and the roofers will, quite literally, have work for several months.
Today I felt sorry for the insurance agents and claims adjusters. Their phones must have been ringing off the hook. They have a lot of work ahead of them.
The bad news is another windstorm is predicted for tomorrow night. Let's pray not!

Hi Carol,
I think you need to put maybe 3 pics next to eachother, more than that it makes the screen very wide and hard to read the blogs. ; )
