A Look at Woman Homebuyers

By
Real Estate Agent with Nationwide Homes

According to the article, single women are most concerned about safety and being close to family, friends, and work. The article gives a rough profile of the “average” single female homebuyer:

  • They’re more specific in terms of how big they want the property to be and how much they can afford.
  • They generally look longer than men.
  • They tend not to spend as much as lenders are willing to give them.
  • They are detail oriented when it comes to negotiations.
  • They tend to buy based on emotional connection to the house and form a deeper attachment to it than men.
  • And many will buy remodeling projects.

Hi Peter:  You have shared with us a pretty good start in building a profile of the "average" single female homebuyer.  One thing I might add is that, from what I have seen, the credit scores of single women buyers are usually better than young single male buyers.  Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Karen above. We have seen our number of female home-buyers climb the last few years. though they can be cautious at first, they are extremely fun to work with, and appreciate knowing the details, we have found.

I think safety is a major issue.  I also have seen a sharp increase in the number of singe female home buyers.
