Scenes From The Delta, Colorado Rock and Gem Show. No one really remember how long the Delta, Colorado Rock and Gem Show has been going on, but I've been going to it for over 10 years. Here are some pictures from this year's event.
The prominent blue stone is a mix of Azurite and Malachite. I'm thinking any of these crystals would make a really neat paperweight for my desk.
The Bill Heddles Recreation Center hosts this show every year. Over 30 vendors from all over the Western Slope of Colorado had different displays of all different types of stones and gems. Some vendors even have their own mines where they get their favorite specimens. I learn something new every time I go to the show. One of the neatest things about this year's show was the black light room. You could take stones into the room to see the effect of the black light on them. It was really amazing to see the fluorescent colors come out.
The Delta, Colorado Rock and Gem Show takes place every year in early June. For more information on next year's show call Bill Heddles Recreation Center at 970-874-0923.
