Cars were lined up along Frederick Rd, "The Greasy Hands" (yep, that is the name of a band) made sure everyone got their funk on, the strawberry-lemonade was gone quickly, the cookies were delicious, treasures were plentiful and vintage was truly vintage ... in short The Funky Flea, sponsored by The Pink Cabbage, attracted a huge crowd and was a big success all around.

The Funky Flea is a not-so-secret-one-of-the-best annual Flea Markets in Maryland, benefiting the American Cancer Society. To quote the Cabbage-gals "It represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated."

If you missed this year's Funky Flea, you should like The Pink Cabbage on Facebook or sign up for their newsletter and watch for the announcements, sales and special events are held throughout the year.

My great find at the Funky Flea came from The Freckled Egg (don't ya love that name?!). I broke the piggy-bank! It's all good though because I've been searching for that perfect table and chairs for a very long time ... it's shabby chic "weathered elegance" just like the owner Ashley Armstrong promises.

The Freckled Egg is part of the Repurposed & Refined Vintage Warehouse in Hagerstown, MD and, judging by the great shabby chic and vintage items they sold at the Funky Flea, well worth a visit.

If you are looking for unique Home & Garden Decor, a special gift or just enjoy a treasure hunt like I do, you got to visit charming local stores such as The Pink Cabbage in Ellicott City or The Freckled Egg in Hagerstown!

Andrea, great localism post and suggested. Like the name "pink cabbage funky flea", and "the freckled egg" ... odd, but funny names...ones you want forget!  Did you buy the white table and chairs?

Hi Rebecca, I love the names, too! It's unique, just like the stores. Yes, I did indeed buy the table and chairs (and a couple benches), the picture doesn't do them justice though! :-)

Oh my! This is just the kind of event I would love to spend the day at. How fun. Of course, I'd spend way too much money so Mel's probably glad it was too far away for me to go. Great localism post.

Hi Gretchen, it was a great Funky Flea .. and, yes, I spent way too much money! :-) But just love everything I got. I'm now in the process of refinishing and distressing one of the benches I found. Love a good project!
